The most frustrating thing at my school would probably have to be the weather in the winter time. It gets very cold and it is sometimes unbearable. Other than the weather, everything about this school is great.
The cold winters are definitely the most frustrating thing about Ithaca College. While I love the look of snow, I hate cold weather. The britle air, the brutal wind, and the massive amounts of snow make walking to class and being outside at all an issue.
I have not been here very long, so I do not have an expert opinion on what works well and what does not. If I had to guess, I would say classes reach maximum capacity quickly, and a lot of people seem to have complaints about that.
The hours of the dining halls are not very convenient, and often I am left hungry or forced to spend my precious Bonus Bucks at the on campus convenience store
Ithaca is very cold, the campus was built on the side of the hill and there isn't a major party scene
It is in the middle of nowhere and there aren't many things to do around town. Also, Ithaca does not have any fraternities or sororities, making the social life a bit more difficult.
There's not a lot that will frustrate you while attending IC. It's a very laid back school that pushes you to be an individual. Some people get frustrated after hearing the words "sustainability" or "recycle" ten times every day. Others find the online class registration process very frustrating.
This year Ithaca College accepted many more freshman than it could accommodate. Consequently it is very difficult to get that classes you need because there are so many freshman.
Last year the Ithaca admissions department managed to admit far too many students and therefore the current class is incredibly overpopulated. Resources are scarce, almost all the residential lounges have been turned into dorm rooms, classes are bursting with students, professors are overwhelmed and the library cannot adequately host all the students who need it to study. Students are being restricted on both academic and social levels because of a faulty admissions procedure.
The weather is very cold, windy, and unpredictable.
The most frustrating thing about my school is the dorming situations. It is not entirely frustrating as I was lucky to find good roommates, but being in an extended occupancy room, where they fit three students instead of two, it gets clustered and slightly uncomfortable. This is not a major problem as I spend most of the day outside of my room, but returning to a clustered room on an all male floor that smells a bit is quite a disappointment.
The most frustrating thing about my school is that it's not anywhere near a city. Although it's a nice, calm atmosphere off campus, it would be nice if a city was one hour or less away from the campus to get away and provide the students with more to do along with more opportunities.
The lack of much diversity.
The school doesn't have much available to do on the weekends. You have to travel off-campus (to Collegetown, Cornell, downtown Ithaca) to find things to do that don't involve alcohol.
It rains or snows a large percentage of the time.
Inconsistency. From the housing process to financial aid to the quality of professors, it's all very inconsistent .
The most frustrating thing at Ithaca is the housing situation. Living on campus is so expensive to begin with and we still have to pay extra for cable and internet which is extremely slow, especially for the price. The rooms aren't great, especially for what we're paying.
The weather and not seeing the sun. It can get very depressing.
The most frustrating thing for me about my school is the small art department. It is a sad little floor of the field house that needs to be renovated or replaced. I also get frustrated with the amount of parking, it seems like you are always on a hike to wherever you have to go. Another thing is that cheerleading is not varisty, it is only a club so there is not much funding by the school, so we cannot go away to games or get any money for competitions we would like to go to.
The most frustrating thing about Ithaca is the website that is used for housing and for picking out your classes each semester. Imagine thousands of students trying to get on one website at the same time and fighting to take the classes that you need.
The acceptance rate has been too high recently and the college could benefit from a larger endowment.
It's freezing in the winter and makes you feel unsocial. Alcohol seems to be the go to entertainment nomatter what.
I feel like a student is judged often on his or her GPA and that is strongly tied to success in this school. I feel that too many judgements are based on GPA and not based on the student's other abilities, like ability to relate to people.
girls don't all put out
The most frustrating part about Ithaca College is having to battle the image of having Cornell University across the hill. Many people believe that Cornell is 100 times better than Ithaca College or that Ithaca is the sister school to Cornell with lower standards. It is very frustrating to make it clear that we are our own college with very different academic programs than Cornell. We work closely with Cornell to make both schools the best that they can be without battling to make one "better" than the other.
winter I much more enjoy warm weather and there is a long cold witer here
