What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

nicole

study better in high school so i am more prepared in college.

Kristen

You can do it. It seems like another world to you right now, but you can do it. I know you feel like you would be trapped in the process of more school, but it will pay off in the future. Do it now rather then later. You will find where you belong and you will be amazing at it. You are capable of so much more then you realize.

I would tell myself to never give up. Even though I had no control over getting sick and haveing to drop out of college the first time around, I should have made it a point to go back as soon as I was better. I have waited over ten years to go back to school and it is honelstly the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. I am a very determined person and I will finish my dream this time around. It is tough financially, but with God there is always a way. I feel that God has put me on this earth to help others, and the best way to do that is to become a nurse. I should have never waited to return to school. I should have went back as soon as I was able.

If i could go back in time and talk to myself, the first thing that i would say to myself is that i should study harder for the SAT's so that when i first get here then it would be a little bit easier for me with classes. I would then go on to tell myself that i shouldn't be so afraid of college, and instead embrace it because the friends i make there are phenominal, and the expierence is a lot better than that of high school. I would also tell myself that i should not regret having decided to take a job for my first year, because in the end they do teach you how to prepare for life. I would also say that even though things seem pretty gloomy right now, that the things will soon be better and that the choice of Aviation is exceptional. Lastly I would tell myself that the money i make now i should save instead of using it because the things that I could have saved now would help me with my choice of degree.

Brian

To save all the money you can, No one will every help you get ahead in life.

I can go back in time right now, only to talk to myself as my high school year is in transition. I think the best of first things to say to myself will be this; you know this is it, everyting comes down to this, your last year in high school. What would you like to do? Are you interested in going to college someday? Do you fell like college is something you'd like to pursue? Whether college is what your intersted in or not, you should definatley make this year the best. Your not going to be in high school anymore after this. Thats always a good thing to look foward to. If you feel you need any help with anything, you don't have time to wait, so use your couselors or any one to look up to for assistance in your advantage. It's really all up to you. Have fun though most of all, this should be one of the best times of your life. Lets make it a good year though most of all. Any questions, you know of, make sure you get straight down to it. I wish you the best of luck!

Do not be afraid of new experiences. Remind myself that everyone is in the same boat. Something new that they have never experienced before. This is a great opportunity that has been afforded me and I should make the best of it. Crawl out of my little shell and jump in with both feet. Enjoy each moment. Take school seriously. Look at school as a job and work at it as hard or harder than you would if you were working for an employer. Try not to miss any days of school. Make school a number one priority. Consider college a privilege and do whatever it takes to succeed at my highest level of ability. When I am scared or unsure of myself, go and speak with my counselor, program chair, instructor, or other faculty who can help to encourage me and lift me up and help me get my feet back on the right track. Do not be afraid to ask questions. Instructors actually want you to succeed in their class. They are ready, willing and able to answer any questions you have regarding the class you are taking. First and foremost, get plenty of rest and eat healthy.

If I could go back in time, I would definitely make sure to tell myself to stay in school, stay focused, study hard, and keep my grades high because life in college is a lot harder than high school is. I would tell myself when I go to college I need to make sure that I stay focused because once you lose tract its much harder to catch up than to just keep caught up. I would make sure to think about what I really need to focus on for college and study those courses as well. I would make sure to try to get a banking account for college tuition funds to help pay for the costs too.

If I was able to go back to my senior year, I would jump on all the college applications and visits that were being offered. The more information you find out and the earlier you apply the better. I wish I did that instead of putting college decisions off. I would have told myself to focus hard in school and get those high grades and a high GPA. I would have listened much harder to my parents then going off chasing boys and partying all the time. College is important to your life and mine, no matter how much you think it's not.

Matthew

I would tell my self to worry about your own self and if you have a girlfriend at home stay in school don't come back for her get your education because a degree in college is the equivalent to what just having your high school degree used to be for most jobs now you have to have a college degree in something to find a career now because you don't want to be working at a restaurant the rest of your life.

My first advice to myself would be that the teachers are not the enemy. Teachers just want to do one thing, teach. They are there to help you if you let them. Math seemed to be so hard and foremost unnessesary, but try to adjust your cake recipe without math, you will have a mess. History seemed to be just that, history. Try to have an intelligent conversation about a movie that played in past times, you come off like a fool. Try to go on a vacation and don't even know which country your favorite vacationspot is near. Things that seemed so useless then make sense now. Take knowledge for what it is, an investment in your future.

If I were a senior in High School and know what I know now, I would have a lot of advice to tell myself. I would definitely tell myself to look more into the schools that I am interested in. Do not just go by what you have heard from a friend. Do a little research to know exactly what to expect. I think it is very important to know how to stay on track to graduate in exactly four years. There is no reason why it should take much more time than that. I would also tell myself to think throught the entire process before commiting to a college. I would make sure I really want to go to that specific school. I also think that saving money is very important, so choosing a cheaper college will only help out in the future.
