Jackson college is a good college to go to. Their teachers and staff are always helpful and want you to succeed. If you need help do not be afraid to reach out and ask. I am doing online classes and the financial aid advisor has been super helpful in getting me in my classes and knowing how to register.
Jackson Community College is a great place to get a college education. There are plenty of resources available to students and the staff and professors are all very nice and helpful. The library is a nice size, there are plenty of places to get a nice meal or a snack, and there many quiet places to study.
Jackson Community College is overall a very satisfactory school to attend. They offer a variety of classes at a number of different time in order to cater to a day or night student. Because of this I can still work full time while attending college full time.
It's got problems, but so do other colleges. For a community college, Jackson does alright and has a much better program selection than a lot of nearby community colleges have. The dorms are nicer than MSU, though that really isn't saying much and I'm definitely glad that I came here.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Jackson College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
"What are you doing tonight?" My best friend, Joanna, asked me Friday at school. "Oh, probably just going home to study," I answered. The same answer I had been repeating my whole high school career. "You really need to have some fun once in a while." I wish I would have known she was right. If I could go back as a high school senior, I would do more activities. Not the drinking, partying type of activities but, just hanging out with my friends more or going to sporting events. I was too serious about school and my grades that I forgot to stop and have fun every now and then. I believe that this seriousness was great for my academics in college but it has hindered my ability to meet new people like most college students do. Many students meet their lifelong friends while in college. If I would have been more outgoing and adventurous in high school, meeting new people in college probably would not be so hard for me. One piece of advice I would tell myself as a senior to make the transition easier would be, "make the most out of your life and time".
I would say that the best aspect of Jackson Community College is the small and intimate campus. I am able to get to all of my classes within a few minutes because all of the buildings are close together. Also, after about the second week of classes starting, the majority of my teachers know me by name. I know that I can get the help that I want and need on a personal basis. I do not feel intimiated by JCC or the instructors like I may at a huge university.
It is small and people from all kinds of different backgrounds go there.
I would say my school is best known for students transferring. Most people go there to get their prerequisites out of the way that way they can transfer to a four-year college and start their program of study.
The worst thing about JCC is its lack of resources for students. There are computers at each campus but definitely not enough of them. There are only 3 advisors at the Hillsdale Center, which makes it hard to ever get an appointment with one of them and when you do they can only help you with short term issues. They can tell you the basic classes you may need to take to transfer but cannot tell you if they will transfer or not which ones will be beneficial to your degree if you transfer out. It is very frustrating!
Anyone can attend this school. This would be a good school for people to go to if they wanted togo to a smaller school and live off campus. There are some on campus living arangments in Campus View 1 & 2. They are very new buildings and the arangement is like you are living in an apartment with friends but with added security and privacy.
I think if a person is ready to go to a 4 year college or unversity and has the means he/ she should go and get the full college experience. If a person is attendng this school because he/ she thinks the classes will be easier there will be a surprise in store for the person.
I would have to say that the most frustrating thing about JCC is the bookstore. They seem to never order enough books for students need's. This is very annoying when you need books for a class and you have to wait until your already in class a week. Other than that JCC is a great school.
I would tell them that they have felxible schedules to help just about anyone, weather your working or supporting a family or both they will work around your schedule to help you get an education.
Before I came t Jackson Community College I wish I knew how different it was going to be from high school and that the teachers may not enjoy one on one time like high school teachers do. I feel like college professors judge me more on every little thing I say and sometimes I feel stupid, but in high school I never did. I wish I would have know to listen more, verses expressing my thoughts.
Most of my classmates at JCC are all adults who are returning back to school through the No Worker Left Behind program and the rest are students who are either completeing a two year degree there or transferring somewhere else.
It used to be a community college, but they actually changed it this year. It is now a four year college. That makes me feel a little bit better about going there because I did not want to go to a community college. This school is a stepping stone to the college I am ultimately going to attend next fall.
