John Brown University Top Questions

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Michael

I wish I had known a few things. First, if you are going to do work study; make sure you have your checking account set up before school starts. Its hard to do it after classes begin. Second, make sure you're organized and have a schedule for checking your e-mails daily; assignments change. Third, if you are going to schedule 7:30 am classes, you should have to have alternate breakfast plans. Finally, the classes in college require more studying, so get in the habit of studying now.

If I had lived close enough to the campus I would have rather have gone there instead. I paid the same amount as they did, even more, for less of the experience. No beautiful buildings surrounded by trees for me.

I wish I had known to get involved with ministries and other activities my freshman year and not to wait untill I "got a hang of this college thing." It's important to just jump right in. You can handle it!

I wish I had known what I wanted to study.

How small Siloam Springs was, that John Brown typically attracts conservative, evangelical kids, that there is a huge lack of faculty diversity (both in academic focus and ethnically).
