Communities on campus to become apart of
I grew up around Johnson County Community College, so I was very familiar with the college before I attended it.
I wish I would have known that the recomendation that you budget 2 hours to studying for every hour of class is true even in community colleges. When I started college I thought I could procrastinate assignments until the night before, so I ended up falling behind in my study. If I would have spent a few hours every night studying, I would have gotten all A's.
Before coming to this school I wish I would have known all of the expenses that I have to deal with throughout the year. I am on a tennis scholarship which pays for my books and tuition, but we still also have to pay other kinds of fees that we were not aware about before the school year started. For example, the first day I went to go get my books it cost about $500. What I did not know was that my scholarship covered only $400 for books. So I had to pay the rest myself.
I wish I would have known how to organize my time better before getting to college. Although I figured it out eventually through trial and error, it caused me to have a lot of stress and took a toll on my grades in the beginning.
How great it is
I don't think there is anything I didn't know that I needed to know when transferring from another college. JCCC was great at informing me on everything and anything, such as: transferring classes, enrollment, and fiancial aid.
