Not knowing what I wanted to major in, I decided to stay in town and attend the local junior college. Joliet Junior College is close to home, it is less expensive than any University, and it is small and personal. The professors are extremely determined in helping students and because classes are so small, student/teacher interaction is always available. Staying in town and living at home not only saves me money on classes, but allows me to work part time as well. JJC provides its students with countless opportunities at a reasonable price.
I definitely brag most about the Culinary program. I think it is fabulous! We do so many different events, and we get to experience what it's really like to be a chef. We learn not only how to cook, but why we are using the ingredients and their purposes. I never thought I would have this much culinary knowledge after only two years.
When I tell my friends about JJC I tell them that its the cheapest school to start out at rather than going off to a university right away. And that you can still work and go to school at the same time.
When I talk to my friends about JJC, I tend to brag about the teachers. I have not had one teacher at JJC that I did not love. Their styles of teaching were all just what I needed. Perhaps each style of teaching seemed the same because of the "one on one" style of the teaching but either way it works.
I tell them that it is close to home and that the staff is very helpful. I have met a few friends and everybody is eager to help. On the bridge there is always some kind of entertainment which makes the day a little less stressful.
that I wish that I could get a Bachlors Degree at JJC and wouldnt have to transfer because I love it there
I brag about most with Joliet Jr. College is the Hospitality Management program i am in, and the great teachers that teach it. Also that I can make my classes fit around my schedule. And the willingness of staff to help you out in any situation.
