What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Amanda

I think the most valuable thing I have learned through college is that perfection isn't the ultimate goal. School has always come very easy to me and my first semester of college I got a much lower GPA than I ever expected to in my life. For me, this was extremely discouraging. Then I realized how much I learned through that semester and how much it helped improve my life. I learned how to work hard and take the time to make sure everything I do is to the best of my ability. I learned how to ask for help and most importantly I learned that life isn't a multiple choice test that you get wrong or right. It's more of an open text book waiting to be filled in with truths applicable specifically to your own life and successes you come to find through happiness and making the right choices.

So far I have learned how to live on my own efficiently, study at a more accelerated pace, and I've learned what classes I am interested and not interested in. I find college valuable to be able to obtain a job in the world and to learn who you are. College allows you to find yourself and learn who you truly are. I can't imagine not going to college.

Paige

I have gained a whole new outlook on life, K-State is a really positive place to be and it has helped me to realize that I need to be more positive about my life. Also, the profs are so awesome and helpful.

College has been an amazing experience and has helped me grow as a person and to be who iam now. I was not prepared when i first attended college but now with going back to school next week i am excited and cannot wait to learn so i can better provide for my family and be able to give my daughter everything that she needs. I have found a love of political science and law while in college and have joined clubs and organizations that has helped me in all aspects of my life.

Larissa

I recieved a vaulable education in a great enviroment. The atomsphere at the campus is one that purse me to achieve the best I can be which prepared me for the future while having fun in life. I made many friends with students and professors that help me achieve my life goals, which I am still in contact with today. The classes give me a great education which allowed me to continue my education at a higher level. I also am thankful for extra activities I was able to be involved in. These allowed me to learn more about how to succed at life such as the leadership roles, volunteering, and cultural diversity events that I was involved with. The church at my school was great and allow to me to continue becoming closer to God. I am very thankful for having the opportunity to attend this unversity.

Since beginning my college experience, my independence has blossomed. Growing up, I always had two older sisters whom I could always turn to for advice or to follow their lead. However, since coming to college, I have begun to act on my own accord and independently. This feeling of independence is liberating. I have made so many new friends and am involved in activities that I never thought I would be interested in. For example, I am the floor president in my residence hall. I am also a member of Kappa Alpha Theta women’s fraternity. During this time last year, never would I have imagined that I would be doing these activities. Going to college and being away from my comfort zone has forced me to grow independently as a person and I am so thankful for the opportunity to explode as a human being into my college career.

After my first semester in college, I've learned to rely on myself a lot more. It was clear after about the first month that my mom had taken care of a lot of things for me. For example, I was lost as to what do to at my first doctor's visit in a new town. But there are so many resources available at the university that I was able to find the help and guidance that I needed. Eventually, I became more comfortable with handling things on my own. The first time I took my car to the shop for an oil change all on my own was a real accomplishment. Other things too, like joining a sorority and making new friends, have really helped me to branch out and try different things. All these experiences have really made me glad to be at college because they have helped me to stand on my own grow as an individual.

A person will never realize how valuable it is to attend college until he reaches the age where he says,"I am too old to attend school." A person's mind is covered with disappointment, frustrations, and regrets. That was how I felt. I had to shake it off! I am reminded of God's word: "For I know the plans I have for you; to prosper you and give you hope and a bright future." In my first day in college, I found out that my fear is baseless. Some of my classmates also have grey hairs on their head. Some became my buddies in and out of campus. We share notes, foods, secrets, advices, and friends. College experience is one of God's tool to give me a bright future. Not only did it equipped me with the skill I needed for my job, it also boost my socializaton skill so others may enjoy my company. It also increased the level of my self esteem so I can contribute my talent to the community. After finishing two more classes, I can fulfill my dream of having a preschool center. That's a very bright future, indeed!!

Going off to college has easily been one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make. But I don't regret it at all. It has shown me that I can be independent and that I really can do the things I set my mind to. During highschool I didn't get the best grades because I always thought I'd do better in college, and I have. My first semester I got a 4.0 and my second I got a 3.5. This experience has allowed me to prove to myself and others that I really am capable of doing the things I really want to. It also opened my eyes to how much things in life costs, and has made me much more appreciative of my family and the things I own. Having the opportunity to attend college is something I believe everyone should have because I, personally, have become a stronger and more mature person because of it.

Alexandra

During my college experience I have had the honer to learn two very valuable and useful things. First, Do all assignments and extra credit plus more. All the points you can get can only help to improve your grade, and most times make the difference for a grade on edge. This could mean the difference between a B or an A. For me this skill has been most useful in maintaining my remarkable grade point average of 3.8 on a 4.0 scale. The second lesson that college has supplied me with is to surround yourself with people with high morals and good intentions. College can be a time of great temptaion for many young adults, but if you have a solid support system of friends that will always have your best intrest at heart, staying far from those temptaions is a braze. For me I have found this support through my sisters in Zeta Tau Alpha and other great friends. They have helped me get through sticky proplems as well as keeping my head up and maintaining a strong mind. Having a healthy support system is a get formula to maintaing high grades and high standing.

What I have gained from my college experience is to stand on my own two feet for the first time. Although I stumbled in some areas, for the most part I did well and am incredably proud of myself and the start of my college career. Now, I have confidence in my own abilities and am a more independent person. Without attending college I would not have gained this knoweledge about myself along with the new academic knowledge I have attained.

Kaylyn

Of course, I have gotten an outstanding education and resources that will help me secure a job after graduation but I've also gained self-confidence, an appreciation for things that I've never heard about before, and an understanding of what I'm meant to do. K-State has given me a life-long family and I would love to stay in Manhattan as long as I can. Once a Wildcat, Always a Wildcat!

Pima Community College is a wonderful opportunity for those students who only just didn't make the cut into a four year University to further their education! It is also a convenient and flexible resource for returning students who have other reponsibilites such as family, full time jobs, etc. The tuition is far more affordable while not losing any qaulity in the classroom! In fact, the smaller class sizes allow Professors to give more one-on-one attention to each student. The college district consists of six campuses, four education centers, and several adult education learning centers. It is one of the largest multi-campus community colleges in the country. The staff are friendly and always willing to go one step further to help a student in need. The institution provides over 144 programs for pupils to earn their Associates Degree or complete enough credits to transfer to a four year University of their choice. This school is an amazing opportunity for Arizona residents and my experience studying at this facility has been life changing!

amber

My college experience has helped me grow as a person and uderstand who I want to be when I get older and what I want to do. I have grown in my ability to be more outgoing and comfortable in who I am and what I believe. Attending college has been valuable to me in that is has made me become more independent and self reliant. I have learned to believe in myself and know what I want.

Patrick

I have got a lot from my college experience. Much of my experience has to do with how diverse the school is as well as the adjustment from high school to college. Again, I am a minority student at a predominantly white campus and the fact that I am able to engage in the activities they have is amazing. Adjusting to school, such as school work, classes, extra-curricular, etc, has been great as well. I find it valuable to be here because I am the first generation student ever in my family to attend college. I feel as if the ball is in my hands and I'm working to my best ability not to drop it!

Sarah

The most beneficial experience I have had at Kansas State University is my involvement in K-State's Smurthwaite Scholarship and Leadership House. The house consists of 46 girls in cooperative, government living. Over the last year and a half, the house and the girls who live here have become like a family. I believe having a "home away from home" in college is important to anyone's success, especially at a larger university. I know I would not have been as successful as I have been without the love and support of the people in the house. I also believe organizations at K-State, such as Smurthwaite, give students numerous leadership opportunties. I, for example, will be serving as Smurthwaite's President for the Spring 2011 term. I am also an Ambassador for the College of Engineering and a Student Mentor for Electrical and Computer Engineering Orientation. Availability of opportunities like these that enhance leadership are one of the benefits to being at K-State. Additionally, numerous companies participate in career fairs here because they know K-State graduates are prepared for work in the real world. K-State is the beginning of a successful life and career.

I am only a freshman, but the most important change for me was taking responsibility for my actions; (studies, attending class, volunteer efforts), basically trying to make the right choices. I no longer have my parents to push me, I must do it myself. I participate in many activities and this has been an excellent way of meeting other students. Getting invovled is definitely a recommendation to any new student. Learning to set a schedule, plan activities and classes, has been rewarding, but a little nerve racking at times. College provides you the atmosphere to learn and grow as a person. Who I was entering college and the person I become upon graduation will seem like two different people. But that's the exciting part of the college experience. It has only been a few months for me since graduating high school, but it already feels like a long time ago. You adpat and change quickly, the work is hard and the responsibilities are great. I am much more assertive now than I was only a few months ago. College has been a wonderful experience so far. I look forward to new challenges during my college expereince.

Coming from a small rural town, I never had more than 30 students in my class and about 100 in high school, I was scared to come to a big university. After visiting K-State I met the friendliest students and faculty I had at any other college. I also loved the campus, it is beautifully landscaped and has a small town feel to it that made me comfortable. When I moved here I have had the opportunity to meet personally with the president of the university, the vice president of students, and many other important figures. I also had challenging classes, but help was always available through tutoring or meeting with the professors. I never felt as if I was just a number, even in my bigger classes of 3-400 students. Kansas State also really helps its students out by helping them prepare for jobs and careers through their Career Employment Services and has many connections with big companies in many industries. I have also had the opportunity to serve as a College of Agriculture Ambassador where I get the opportunity to work with faculty and other students in the college. Kansas State feels like home.

Courtney

I have known since freshman year of high school that I wanted to go to Kansas State. During my year and a half in Manhattan, I've learned about myself and developed confidence as an indpendent woman. Being at Kansas State has given me the opportunity to volunteer with organizations such as Special Olympics and Big Brothers/Big Sisters, hear lectures from prominent figures in government, and develop leadership while serving in different organizations. I have learned how to work with others such as coordinating projects in class and in my sorority, and I have enhanced my ability to convey ideas in ways easily understood by others. Overall, college has been the cliche "best time of my life." I could continue to write all of the academic achievements, the volunteer activities, or even the friendships I have made, but 200 words couldn't do it justice. I would not have the confidence in myself if I had not attended college, nor would I have the support of the wonderful friends and mentors I have met during my time at KSU.

Rebekah

My education has awakened my enthusiasm for design. I strongly believe that good design can change the quality of life and am passionate about making a positive impact in cities, buildings, and for the individuals that experience them. My education has empowered me with the tools and understanding to make a difference. My college experience pushed me to the limits of my creative spirit, challenged my dedication, and sculpted a work ethic that will be valuable for the rest of my life. It has been more than a “valuable” experience, it has been absolutely imperative, giving my life a direction, passion, and enabling me to make a positive difference in this world.

Kayla

The thing that I wanted the most out of college was to make connections, and so far, I have succeeded. I have met so many amazing people, experienced so many incredible things, and, overall, have had a life changing experience.

Kayla

That college scholarships are not fair. It is had for a middle-class white student to get scholarships. I graduated in the top one percent of the entire state of Kansas, but only qualify for $1,500 in scholarships. Academics are not (usually) considered for scholarships. If I were of an althete, a minority or considered low income, I could get a full-ride. How is that fair to hard working academiacs? I know that I must attend college to become a doctor (my goal). So far college has been a great experience (outside of the financial aspects). It is an entirely different world from high school (thank God). Having the freedom to choose what classes I want to take and when I want to take them if very impowering.

Clara

Kansas State University has shaped the way I feel about my life, my values, and attitudes toward others. I desire a sense of belonging when I am here and I know I can receive that from the friendly people here around me. Since I've been here, I've been influenced by the college experience to make me want to be involved and lead. K-State has a great leadership program which motivates students to be leaders and express their concern for the world. I feel that this this is a great place to start as a freshman at K-State and it can move students to do their best. K-State has been valuable to me because meeting new people and seeing different situations have changed and shaped me into a person I would never have become had I not attended K-State. It's made me think of the way I want to live my life and what I can do help make the world around me a better and more fulfilling place to live.

what i gotten from my college experience is learning about crminal justice

Heading to college in a town away from parents and your old way of life is frightening. When I think of Alan Tajchman’s college experience thus far I see that is has allowed me to mature into the person I am today. The friendships gained in college will last a lifetime. Learning to budget my money and time has proven to be key in my success. Perseverance though tough classes, and hard times in life allowed me to become the leader I am, and gain wisdom that others have not had the chance to. Learning to utilize these skills and apply them to my everyday life is the hardest part, and until I do that I have not received the greatest value from your college experience. Attending college is not just about graduating with a degree it’s about learning the essential’s of life that prepare you to make it in this tough world. I can personally say that in two years, by graduating from a community college and transering to a large university this alone has allowed me the opportunity to put these skills to use and obtain the greatest value from my college experience.

Alexandra

Kansas State University is unlike any other university around. The second you step onto the campus, you are flooded by a sea of purple. Every single person on campus has pride and love for our school. When walking around on campus there is never a day that passes without someone smiling at me or lending a hand whenI am in need. Strangers are willing to go out of their way to help you out, even if they are running behind on their schedules. The small town of Manhattan has made me feel so extremely welcome and I have absolutely thrived living in this enviornment. The friendships I have made have helped me grow into a better woman and become the person I have always wanted to be.

Julianna

When I was doing my college search, I knew there wasn't a chance in the world I would stay in Kansas. My parents always knew I had my eyes set on someplace out-of-state or more likely internationally-based. Despite the fact, they had gone to this school, there was no way I wanted to attend a school less than an hour away from where I grew up. However, one day spent on this campus changed my mind. The people (students and faculty alike) stopped what they were doing to say hello and to point you in the right direction. They offered their own personal tips to succeeding at the university. I wasn't even enrolled and I already felt like a family member. That was the moment, in which my life changed substantially.

Angela

By attending college I have learned who I am. There are many college students who go to college because their parents or job told them or wanted them to. I attend SCF because I want to. I have learned that I’m not a procrastinator, getting things done by due dates helped me establish and undertake this characteristic. Another key to success is, getting help through research. Not only for a college essay is research important; take this scholarship for example, without a strong effort in researching scholarships, I would not be able to apply for this and other opportunities. Researching is also major part of any career. Being on the ball; without being an active student in school a person could miss important deadlines or opportunities. Applications for graduation, scholarships, clubs, ect. are all important. Being ahead of the game is my second favorite characteristic college has given me. With that said, my favorite characteristic I posses is my organization. I apply this to every aspect of my life. School, work, and my personal life all show signs of a dedicated motivated person; and I have only college to thank.

What I have gotten out of my college experience is that I am able to take life's challenges. I now know that when I'm out in the world I can suvive because my college has given me that expreience. It has given me the ability to learn how to take on the world and what to do when I am out there. It has also shown me that learning is extremely important and everyone should get something out of it. I have learned that no matter how much you think otherwise there is always someone there to help you in whatever situation you need.

myriah

I've already lerned lots of things in my experience at K-state. I've met new people from literally all over the world, I've learned more about how the world around me works, I've grown in my fields of study and I've grown physically stronger through my involvement with athletics. However, more than anything else, I've learned that I CAN do and be whatever I want to. When I was young, my parents weren't the kind of people who told me, "You can do whatever you set your mind to!" they were very realistic and taught me to accept my own limitations. at times, those lessons are useful, but in college I've learned that i can defy the limitations I thought I was under. I've learned that I can do more than I ever thought possible. Whether placed on me by someone else, or by myself, I CAN push the boundaries of what is possible.

Rebecca

The best thing I have gotten about my college experience is that I can believe more in my self and that I can learn more and do something better with my life than what I thought wasn't possible. It has been so valuable to attend because no matter what I know that I can always learn more no matter what I already know.

Amanda

I can't put a price on the value of what I've learned even in the first two weeks of classes, I've met so many amazing people, learned more about time managment than high school teachers could ever dream of lecturing me about, and much more.

Aaron

It has taught me many lessons beyond those in taught in the classroom. It gave me lifetime friendships that I still hold many years later. My undergraduate research placed me well ahead of the curve when it comes to competing with other undergraduate researchers for giving technical discussions/talks, as well as utilizing my time in studying and research-centered activities.

Sandi

It is said that getting a college degree will open new opportunities in life. What is not credited enough, however, are the opportunties that arise during the college experience. I am not emphasizing the obvious-the educational benefits such as a large library and endless academic resources, but instead, the learning opportunities regarding life. College students are suddenly forced to create lifestyles for themselves. Between juggling scholastic obligations and neverending campus activities, college students are expected to live. Some might get lost in that mess. I did. The first year of college, my schedule was filled to the brim everyday with studying, meetings, hanging out, and the occasional meal or two. It was during my first summer home that I realized that I had been living too quickly and losing track of my goals. My desire to dedicate my life to humanitarian architecture overseas was reignited. My schoolwork has new meaning, my busy schedule is more fulfilling, and among countless other things, going to college has taught me that my tendency to live fast was hindering my ability to focus on what matters in my life.

In my time at K-State, I have been fortunate to be given many opportunities. These opportunities have not been given but earned. Developing a strong work ethic is a strong value i have learned while attending K-State. I have also experienced many highs and lows in colleg and learning to keep my balace is another instance that K-State has afforded me. While attending K-State, i was heavily involved in the School of leadership studies program and the amount of wealth I learned from my time in the minor has done more than shape who I am today. The acronym C.C.I. is something i developed which stands for communicate, connect, and inspire. With these three things, I feel anyone in this world can be successful. Everything I am today, I thank K-State for (as well as my parents)!

Jeffrey

To me college is not purely an educational experience. College is as much about social learning as it is educational. Although friends won't get you a degree, the connections you make in college will be with you for the rest of your life. I have been to unbelievable places and seen amazing things while in college. If i had chosen not to attend college these opportunities would have never been available to me. Another reason why college has and will remain to be valuable to me is that a degree is required in the career I want to go into. There are many benifits to attending college. I have not experienced all of them yet but, even the short amount of time I have spent here so far has opened doors for my future.

Anthony

Growth spirtually. When I arrived to K-State I had felt like I had stagnated in my faith and relationship with God. During my time on campus I looked at a number of different campus ministries and decided to join with Icthus. It turned out to be one of the best decesions of my life. While apart of Icthus I got connected with people who were searching for the same growth I was and we were all able to help each other. This coming year I will be a lifegroup leader of an outdoor ministry outreach asscoiated with Icthus where I am now leading the efforts for fundraising a spring trip retreat for a week hike in the Grand Canyon to have personal reflection opportunities and be able to witness along the trail.

Charles

I am currently working towards my Educational Leadership Doctorate and I believe that I, as a student and teacher, have established a desire to learn and instill that value of education to my students. Kansas State University, and all such institutions, offer the environment to better oneself academically and socially.

Derek

The most important lesson I have gotten out of my college experience so far is the chance to find myself and what I am capable of. Whether balancing a demanding academic schedule to a busy social life of my college experience. Many things about me are changing as I take on new experiences. In class I have begun a development of problem solving for more complex problems. Outside of class I am building new relationships, participating in new clubs and taking part of Greek life. These opportunities that I have taken advantage of are giving me chances to build on my past experiences and grow both socially and developmentally. Going to college may be financially expensive but the life lessons I have learned in one year greatly out weight the costs of tuition and fees.

Kyle

I have gained what I hope to be lifelong friends and a experience I will never forget in the dorms of K-State. I hope to always remember what I have learned in and out of class.

Allison

From my college experience at KSU I have gained an excellent education with professors who teach in their own unique ways that often benefit their students more than themselves. Through the faculty and staff on campus and community members, I have seen where honor, integrity and a passion for what I do in life can take me. My college experience at K-State has and will hold me to a higher standard of living throughout the rest of my life. As I sit here brainstorming the hundreds of valuable things I've learned over my past three semesters in attendance at K-State, there's just one word that keeps popping into my head: family. This is the most valuable thing I have gained attending KSU and its meaning has been demonstrated to me over and over through the faculty at K-State and Manhattan community members. This is most valuable to me because where challenges may arise in life, I know I can always depend on my K-State family to be supportive, accepting, and encouraging of me and my endeavors.

Sarah

I have gotten to understand that maybe what I thought i wanted and what I really want are two different things. After mulitple changes in my major I have figured out that I want to help people and take care of people. I work as a Nurses Aide now I know do not want to be in this field forever. I want to help people and take care of children like a social worker would.

Lyndsey

This college experience has had a tremendous impact on my life socially and educationally. Class is the main part of school. I have taken several online classes and several classes on campus I would deffinately say I enjoy the on campus classes a lot more. I have gained knowledge of things I thought I knew how to do but I really had no understand of before. Such as how to teach with students with learning disabilities and how they learn. Without attending college I would not have gained this knowledge.

Jurexsy

So far being in Southern Maine Community College has been a lot of fun, but every night all I can think about is the debt I'm in. I grew up in a family full of debt and I went to college so that my family in the future wouldn't have to go through that. Unfortunately, college is so expensive that it put me in debt as soon as I was out of high school. How am I supposed to lead a successful life if everywhere I turn my debt is haunting me and taking away my sleep. It's not fair that college is advertised as a way to get a better life with lots of luxuries, but how are you supposed to get to those luxuries if your in over your head in loans. In conclusion, college may be fun in many ways, but at the end of the day the only experience I get is the experience of losing sleep and peace of mind.

Brittany

Away at Kutztown University in the summer of 2008 I felt a sudden rush of confusion! Did I really want to be a teacher? Did I really want to sit in a classroom for the rest of my life? Education is the absolute most important aspect in my life; yet, did I really want to pursue a career in teaching about it? The best decision I made was to come home and attend Gloucester County Community College for two years. It is now 2010 and in the fall of 2008 I realized EXACTLY what I wanted. I knew who I was; I love people, I hold the door open for them, I smile at everyone I see, I lend a hand every chance I get. Nursing is the best profession for me! I was blind the whole time after high school, just wanting to get away and get the experience. I just received my letter of acceptance to DREXEL UNIVERSITY! I am so thrilled because I know that their education is one full of benefits. Attending school is so gratifying and valuable because I learned what I was supposed to do with my life; I learned my purpose.

Marissa

In my short time at Kansas State thus far, I have been provided with an education, friends, and a home. There are amazing professors on campus that truly want the best for their students. It can be challenging, but they are preparing us for success. Not only do they provide us with the education we need, but they prepare us for life after college. They encourage us to do our best and are always available if we need extra help. Even though KSU has many lecture classes, the professors will still get to know their students, which shows they do care. Outside of academics, KSU has provided me with multiple opportunites to be involved on campus and meet people from all across the nation. I have found some of my best friends here at KSU and I owe that to the school for providing me with those opportunites. Kansas State University is a home. Kansas State University is a family. It has been valuable for me to attend KSU because I am getting an excellent education and a great college experience. My experience here will stay with me for the rest of my life.

Save up as much money as you can because college gets expensive fast. If possible, don't buy textbooks from the campus bookstore because they are way over-priced and they won't buy them back for very much money if at all. Keep your social and academic lives distinct from one another (have fun, but don't neglect your classes), and get a good night sleep as best you can. Trust your academic advisor in which classes to take. Get a bike for around campus if possible and eat at the dining centers because eating out all the time is an easy way to waste money. Plan out your classes and academics and make a personal budget (and don't stray from that budget). Intersession classes are a great way to accumulate general credits. Take advantage of the recreational, tutoring, and career services offered (they may be "free", but you're paying for them one way or another). But most of all, enjoy college!

Sara

If I could go back in time to talk to myself as a high school senior I would tell myself that living in the dorms is a great experience, take up anything new to experience it you only get to be a freshman once. Maybe not living with my best friend from high school as a roommate, meeting new people is a great way to make connections and make friendships to last forever. Taking up Rowing was a good experience so do it for a year meet people, and to see how being an athlete for a D1 sport feels like. Even though you have to get up early for practice don't go to bed so early and miss out on Dorm-life at night! Then then next year just enjoy being a regular college student! Also, I would tell myself to get a job as a senior in high school so I don't have to struggle as much as I am now in college, even though it seemed like I was too busy in high school for a job. Kansas State University is a great school and that I do not regret anything about going!

Cindy

I would tell myself to get involved in high school, even if it means being new to a club as a senior as long as I have something to put down on college and scholarship applications. It would also help with getting involved in college because I'd have experience instead of starting out clueless. I would also tell myself that studying is important, even for an easy class and that I'm going to need to work hard for grades. That being said I would tell myself to put more effort into Stats and AP Government instead of being satisfied with a "B," and "A" would be more rewarding and would have been great practice for what college courses would be like.

Adam

My college is six hours away from home, I started out not knowing anyone, and it's the longest period away from home I've ever spent, so this has definitely been the toughest transition I've ever faced. That's why my one piece of advice to my high school senior self would be to take advantage of every opportunity I got to spend time with my friends. The memories I made during senior year and last summer mean more to me now than I could have ever imagined. My strongest support system has been my friends. While family is great, my friends are experiencing some of the same challenges, and being able to talk to them has helped get me through some really rough times. New friends can be good, but it's the old ones that I value the most. I know them, they know me, and sometimes I just need someone I can vent to, knowing that they will be there to just listen and not judge me. I think Ralph Waldo Emerson said it best: "It's one of the blessings with old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them."
