What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Jessica

I would not change what I did after high school joining the military was a great chioce. I learned a lot and was able to see even more! The only thing I would change is the chance to further my education!

Aussing I could go back in time as myself as a high school senio knowing what I now know about college life and making the transition, I would have trained myself to be a have better study habits. I have mastered the study skills now that I am almost done with my Bachelors Degree but I believe had I mastered this skill back in high school, the transition would have be a lot easier and I would have not felt like I was bombarded with work 100{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of the time. Trail and error was the key my first two years at college and all though I manage to succeed and learn how to balance play and study, I feel that it would have been better spent finishing up my degree this time last yearl. All though I feel that I am not behind, I think that being able to set aside study time and know when to turn off the computer and cell phone would have been a great lesson learned in high school. I just assumed that since I was a A student in high school it would carry over to college, doubting the work would be as hard.

To prepare more for college

Study hard and do well. Academic life is more important then your social life.

Knowing what I know now, I would tell myself to set both short and long term goals and work towards them. When each goal has been accomplished, put a check mark and the date that it was accomplished because that will keep you motivated, and it will show you that you can do what you put your mind to. I would also tell myself to think with a clear mind, and before making any big decision, always think them through. Life is not easy and it can be very challenging but be determined, stay organized, and in everything that you do, give it your best and put forth a 100{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} effort.

Sieze the opportunity now!! College is hard, but can also be fun, don't let it pass you by while you are still young. You may think you have all the time in the world, but it goes by very quickly. Before you know it you are 44, and struggle to remember the neccessary skills that are taught in high school. You can do it, don't let anyone or anything stand in your way. Follow your dreams, they can take you where you want to go if you believe in them. The only one holding back your success is you. I admit it is scary, however, communication with the instructors, classmates, and advisors will offer a tremendous amount of help to plan and cope with struggles that may arise. There are no dumb questions, so do not hesitate to ask any. Whether online or on campus, having a strong support system will give you encouragement, and allow you to have less stress. My advice is to check out many schools and what programs they offer. take as many seminars as you can on writing styles, formatting, and plagarism. These are worth every second and increase grades. Good Luck Debby.

To be honest I would not have siad anything. If I were to say anything to convince myself to do something, it would have changed my life. So I say I would not change anything. With the ups and donws I have come across it has all been worth it. I am a single mom and I have really struggled along the way, but I would not change anything. So I am sorry but I woul dnot have said anything because I would not change anything. The lessons I have learned, the ups & downs, but most importantly the little girl I have. We have grown together and taught each other lessons, and will continue to teach each other more.

I would definitely advise myself to attend some sort of 2 year technical school, such as a PTA or radiology tech program. Get the 2 year degree, get into the workforce making decent money, and then continue on for a BS.

Stay Persistent , focused and follow through with every goal!

I would focus more on Advanced Placement courses in order to give myself a better advantage. I would also compare the cost of tuition at all of the universities that accepted me. I now understand how important the financial aspect of getting a higher education is. Lastly, I would chose a school closer to home because the family support is important during college.

Patrick

My advice will be to stay focus because if you don't reach for something, you will settle for anything, and achieve nothing. Besides, success is not measure by the size of your assignment, but the obedience to your assignment.

Michelle

Go to school! Learn everything that you can! Make that knowledge your own, and then share it with everyone that you can.

Marie

I would tell myself to go to college right away so I could go to anyone I want and not have to choose because of proximity to my children. I love my kids but it would sometimes be easier to go to school instead of stay home. Work hard and don't fall behind. Keep your grades up and make your family proud. You are going to have a house full of great crazy kids.

amanda

I would tell myself to do exactly what I did. Wait a few years after graduating high school to start college that way I am not overwhelmed after 12 years of school. This also gives you time to explore the work force and decide on your career. Take online courses so I can work full time and have a flexible schedule. Its best to work while attending coolege so you can pay for it. Online classes allowed me to work at my own pace and go over the material as much as I wanted in the comfort of my home.

If you want to achieve your goals in finishing up your degree, a student needs to sacrifice his social life a little bit by reading all the assignments, handing the project on time, and don't hesistate to ask questions to your professor if you don't understand the lesson. Focusing on your school without being a procastinator or putting your social life on hold will be hard, but on the other hand, graduating with a degree along with grades that will landed you a better career job is priceless.

Jerri

Jerri, I know you want to leave school to be married and start a family, but please, wait. You?re only 16, and it will be another seven years before you finally realize you want to go to college. I know you feel unsure about what you want, and you?ve never believed you had a talent, but you?re wrong. No one else loves to read the way you do? think you can?t get paid for that? Think again? be an editor. Don?t be afraid to succeed; college is so much easier than you dreamed. You?ll have your babies, even if things don?t go as planned. So finish school, start college, and you?ll be able to give them the world.

Michelle

If I was able to go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior; I would express the valuable relationships that come with advancing one's education. I would express to myself the inevitable possibilities open more to my vision if furthering my studies with a positive attitude. I would express to myself the necessity in going further into my studies with a clear and free mind and understand there will be rough times but they are challenges to make me stronger and more equipped to deal with the life that is ahead of me. I would make myself aware that no matter the struggles that will come, learning is fundamental and extremely valuable to having an enriching life.

My advice would be to go directly to college from High School. Once you get out of the school routen life happens and it is hard to get back to college. College is so important to ones future and a neccesary these days. Once you have a family, which I did, it is hard to find the time to add a college education to the agenda. Now that I have gone back to college I know that working, taking care of three children and college is difficult, however it can be done, but I think if you go directly to college from High School you will not have the same difficult obstacles, and college would be fun and exciting. This is an experience you will not get after having a family. So go to college have fun and get the most out of your education.
