Kaplan University-Hagerstown Campus Top Questions

Describe the best and worst parts of the social scene on campus.

Lisa

One of the best things about virtual education is that there really isn't a social scene like that found at traditional schools. We may choose to interact with each other outside the classroom via phone and social media. Other than that, the social scene is what your already doing right now.

Beverly

The best part is when you meet all walks of life striving to achieve their goals. As far as the worst is when a student gives up and stop attending school for whatever reason they have.

The social scene! Hmm well the only thing I can say is that not everyone will talk to you in class for the hour that you are in it. I dont see it as a good or bad thing.

Linsey

There is no social scene to speak of at my school.

Sara

Every week here at Kaplan University online there is seminar. What is nice about seminar is that you can login about 30 minutes before seminar and chat with fellow classmates while you wait for seminar to start. This is the social time for class. What's nice about seminar too is you can give your opinions for everyone to see and comment on during seminar, talk about likes/dislikes etc.

Kayla

The best part of the social scene is that people are not actually face to face, so if someone offends you then you don't have to deal with them in person. However, what is worse about it is you are not able to make face to face relationships with people.

Linsey

It is all online So there isn't really a social scene.

Kaplan University Online is a great way to get to know people, and there are plenty of them to get to know. The best part is that there are so many people to get to know. You aren't limited to just the "clique's" at your local campus. If you don't like certain students, you can move on to someone else. The downfall, however, is that most of the time they are scattered across the country. I have made friends who I wish I could just go out and have a cup of coffee with, but it's impossible seeing as how they are hundreds of miles away. A good side to that is that if you're not interested in socializing, and you're more into focusing on your academic path, then you will have no problems.

Brandon

Unaware if there are any because of its online atmosphere.
