Anibal

The most popular activities are the Discussion, and the fun part is 24/7. Other cool is the fraternities are prestige to be there. In campus there student launch and other activities.

Linda

This is a tough question. Online learning is different from being on campus so there are not really activities or groups like you would have on campus.

Lisa

One nice benefit to on line schooling is there are no popular kids, no bullies, no jocks, no stoners etc... We are all students at Kaplan University. We are just everyday people with jobs and family obligations who desire to learn at our own pace and in our own way. We choose the environment where we study and are responsible for our own successes. We simply go to school while living our everyday lives. We have guest speakers in our classrooms on occasion. On Sundays the Science Department has "Science Sundays" on a variety of topics with impressive guest speakers. We also have a variety of departments that do writing workshops as well as a Math & Writing Centers.

Katherine

This university does not have any clicks or popular activities or groups. I am in a couple of groups, the educators club, and two honors groups. This is not a traditional university. Everything you do you do on-line.

Michelle

Students at Kaplan strive to make the President's List and Dean's List. The honors societies are also popular. There are also different clubs and others programs available to students; but I unfortunately do not have the time to participate in any of those. Since we are an online school, sports teams aren't exactly a factor. But there are plenty of other activities to get involved in.

To me the most popular activity to me is the KAUSE , and KUACM for IT Professionals, you hear seminars and attend the Webinars that offered.

SHELLIA

I believe the most popular group for our online campus would be the honor society. There are also groups for Information technolgy where they offer what they call techie thursday where we meet in an adobe connect room and learn about the latest technology available. Since I am not on campus I could not answer the rest of the questions. What I do when not studying is read , take my three dogs for a walk or visit family.

Kaplan's student life program is growing.. While attending my first year, I had already received an invitation to join the American Criminal Justice Association, after that I have attained memberships through Alpha Phi Sigma and the National Society of Colliegate Scholars. Each one has their own activities and events, the only problem that I have with it, is everyone is spread out accross the US. It would be nice to be able to get together to do some community service projects with other members. I just recently was nominated through the National Society of Collegiate Scholars to participate in an international program during the summer of 2012, as I was saying each program has their own benefits and I am proud to be a member of each. Kaplan is really working hard on their student life program to enhance each students experience..

Georgia

I am involved in The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Alpha Beta Kappa Honor Society, and Ambassadors and Leaders.

Jason

Starting answering! Here at Kaplan we have numerous group as well as various Honors Society. Furthermore, in dealing with learning we have labs such as the Math labs and Science Lab. A few other outstanding benefits include our Writing Center as well as our Library. We even a website where we can discounts on computer supplies as well as other supplies one may need for school. We have contest for students to win things. Overall, we are not a party school however if one wants to have a beer while being in a seminar I suppose it would be perfectly legal. However, in saying that I do not believe Kaplan supports drinking while doing schoolwork. Furthermore, it is illegal for minors. Nevertheless, if one does party on their time as long as no laws are broke then all is okay. We certainly want individuals to enjoy their self, However Kaplan has many activities where drinking is not a part of that I think many would enjoy.

Katherine

A lot of people that attend Kaplan are in either a group or honor society. With me I am in Ambassadors and Leaders Group where I pledge to help my fellow student and others in need. With Ambassadors and Leaders I also have a pen pal in third grade that I mentor and do my part to teach him about literacy. I am also a part of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars. They help me out with great information for scholarships and are a great support system. And last but not least I will be joining the Alpha Beta Kappa Honor society.

Karla

I am a member of the OWLS club. It is one of the best clubs in the world, We write to soldiers. We write emails to children that send letters to santa. We offer support groups and we hold contests and we are really more of a family than a club.

ValerieAdam

I am involved with the National Collegiate Scholars Society (NCSS) and I love the opportunities that are there as a member that can help you excel. I have befriended some of my class mates and I am proud to say that we still talk to this day months after our last class together.

Dalen

I am not sure about this question. I have just recently joined NSCS and trying to get the hang of it. So far it is a great group and therre are many people in this organization. The group president for Kaplan has been great and so have the counselors. I have recieved many different letters from organizations at Kaplan, I just haven't had the time to do to much with others. Kaplan does offer a variety of helpful organizations though.

Shelby

Honestly I do not know because I am too busy with my own schedule to look and see what is the most popular group or activity. We are in college and popularity is not an issue.

Stephanie

There are activities and groups but you must keep in mind that Kaplan University in an online school therefore, these groups are online as well.

Carinn

Since we are taking online courses, students engage in normal activities. I have made an effort to be involved in a few honor societies, but most of my activities revolve around my family and work. This is one area where students could feel like they are missing out. But for me I experienced this during my under graduate. The great thing about attending a school from anywhere, is that you don't feel obligated to participate in activities that could hinder your academic performance.

James

I attend school online so I am not sure of what activities go on at the campus. I have read about special projects where students get together to help the community around the holidays and other events. I am in several honor societies and some of the projects we work on are community driven. One of the projects right now with the Ambassador and Leaders group is a reading program for the youth. We actually go to the schools and help children learn to read better. This project is amazing and allows me a way to give back to my community.

Cindy

I joined the Human Service club as well as the The National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

Aaron

Alicia

Kaplan University's online campus has many student groups and activities to choose from, including honor societies. One of the most popular honor societies is the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. I am a member of this society, and let me tell you, my bank account thanks m for it. There are advantages to every group/organization you join. It may not be financial, or it may be financial and academic AND professional, it just depends on the group. Each field of study has groups/organizations just for them, but there are also groups/organizations that are school-wide, such as KU Ambassadors and Leaders. It truly depends on what you are looking for. Some groups are for studying, some for advancing your career, some for helping others, some for acknowledgement, etc.

Angela

There is an online chat for students called the student lounge where students can chat and get to know eachother. A popular honor club at Kaplan is NSCS National Society of Collegiate Scholars. This club can provide a student with many valuable lifetime connections.

Gina

We have virtual seminars ranging from science to writing and careers. Since this is an online school we don't have the interactions physically with students.

Danielle

While attending classes online does limit the activities and groups you can join, there are many academic groups that you can join such as The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Alpha Betta Kappa, Golden Key, Sigma Beta Delta, Net Impact, Student Accounting Association, and so much more to fit the school you are attending.

Samantha

All the groups have theirs place, there is not a particular popular groups because they all have something to offer to each individual. I am part of the National Collegiate Scholars and plan to enroll in more Honor Society base on my high GPA.

The most popular activities and groups at Kaplan University are on networking websites such as Facebook, where students sometimes gather for out out class study groups. Other than that, each degree program offers different Honor Society and groups for students to gather. There are also other Kaplan University honors groups such as the National Society of Collegiate Scholars at Kaplan University, and even the Kaplan University chapter of Alpha Beta Kappa. These are great networking resources where you can meet other exemplary students and professionals in your field of study.

Sara

Depending on your degree there are different types of online clubs that you can join. If you have a high enough GPA there is an honor society that you can join. An example of another group is a group for those obtaining a degree in Early Childhood Development. There is a group where everyone can get together to discuss classroom activities and planning.

Brandon

Since this is a primarily online school experience you will miss out on a lot of the comraderie that you have with traditional campuses. They do have a few groups that you can join; or rather that will contact you when you are referred to them by academic advisors (NSCS, Phi Chi, Golden Key, etc.). Kaplan also has some campuses across the United States and these are what is called "blended", which means you may do some intern hours there but the majority of your classes will be online. That's about as close to interacting with actual people (in the flesh) as you're going to get with Kaplan.

Michael

There are all sorts of clubs that you can get involved in. Like science? There's a club for that. Into ecology, technology? There too. There's school facebook or twitter for staying in touch, making friends or, just finding out whats going on.
