self-motivated and very diciplined individuals
commonly needed classes were way too big. there was hardly a time to speak personally with a professor.

Advice I would give to parents/students would be to do a lot of research when looking for the right college. I am very happy with Kent State, because I visited the campus and looked it up. I also visited other campuses even though I was basically sold on Kent, just to make sure it was my top choice. The college your son/daughter goes to is very important and really shapes their whole future so it is important they choose the college that best fits them. Finding a college you are acidemically compatible to as well as socially compatible to is a hard but rewarding task when you feel like you fit in to the college you attend.

I would visit any and every school that one is planning on attending. If you don't visit first, you can't be sure if it is what you are really looking for. Also, research the professors, and make sure the school has the major you would like to study. To make the best of the college experience, remember homework and studying comes first, but do not overwork yourself. Leave time to socialize, everyone needs friends and support!
I think the worst quality about this school is the weather. It is very unpredictable, and the design of campus is like a giant wind tunnel.
Anyone would be a good candidate for this school. It is very open to all people, artistic or business-like. People are free to be who they are, and it is well known for a lot of the available majors.

Narrow your search down to colleges that offer the major you want. Then do some research on each of them to see if the program is accreditted, etc. Finally visit the campuses you have left and figure out which just feels right to the student. This helps to find the right fit to complete a degree, but also allows the student to know they will enjoy the time they spend there.
If you are not willing to work hard to earn your grades or you don't want to attend classes, you shouldn't attend this school.
The most frustrating thing about Kent is that when you have a question regarding something such as testing or placement. If you call one of the offices in charge of it, you get a lot of run around because no one will take it upon themselves to look it up and they simply say that it is not their area.
fun environment where you will meet many people.

Take trips to the colleges first before commiting. Also research in terms of the undergraduate degree and also see if their grad school is worth it.

This school has a diverse range of degree pathways for anyone looking to better themself academically while also offering helpful resources and affording a worthwhile overall college experience.
I would advise students to use the resources available on campus and to open themselves up to a new experience. Opening up to a new community and becoming involved will help create a wonderful experience and make success easier to attain. I would advise the parents to support their student in their career choice, not pressure them to hard finacially, and encourage their success.
I would talk about my intramural sport experience playing broomball and soccer. Some of the Kent Basketball games are really fun to attend in the winter. I would also talk about some of our hall activities such as capture the flag and ultamate frisbee games. Overall, I talk about my social life experiences.

Im sure you have heard the saying "college is not for everyone". We as society are enduring a struggling economy and question, are things are going to get any better? The answer to this is desire, knowlege and commitment by hard working college students. Personally, I believe that college is for everyone. College is a place to grow, learn and develop a future for oneself. It is a time for exploration, enlightenment, and perseverance. In making the crucial decision to attend a college I believe one should follow their heart and make a personal decision that does not involve their friends, or parents. Find a school that appeals to you. Whether this may be a small, medium or large school. A diverse, liberal, or conservative school. Money should not be an option when choosing a school. Fill out finanial aid, apply for scholarships and everything will fall in place. After choosing your school do not be afraid of anything and plan for the future. Get involved, meet people, join clubs, talk to your professors! College opens a new chapter in life. YOU will be the one doing all the work, thus YOU should make all the decisions!
Anyone should be allowed to attend this school. It does not matter what color or race you are. This is America, the land of the free. Schools should not omit someone because of thier race. Also, schools should not give some races more financial aid than others. I have many African American friends that attend my school for free! Their parents make about the same as mine do, some more, and some less than others. This is not fair! Why does the system conform to some races and dismiss others?
The worst thing about my school is the common drug/ alcohol abuse. I live in a house that is on one of the "party streets". Having a good time at a party does not mean you have to do what others are doing. I do not use drugs nor drink alcohol and find that everyone wants to know where the party is at on the weekends to escape the pressures of school. This is not true. Be a leader, be strong, follow your dreams!

Be prepared for a different experience if you are living on campus, there are a lot of different types of people here, from all sorts of different backgrounds, if you remain open to new experiences, you'll end up with all sorts of friends.
When you look at colleges, look into the tutoring and supportive programs for the students. While the first year or so can be fairly easy, the later years can get rough, fast. As long as there are plenty of support programs for students, and maybe a forgiveness program to let students make up for an unusually tough semester, they should do fine in their work.
Kent State is best known unfortunately for the May 4th shooting back in 1970, after that they are known for holding the patent for liquid crystals, even having a building named after it, and a good basketball team.
Some students are careless and drunken, others are devoted to books.

When looking for a college do not look solely at cost, location, and alumni. Look deeper into the campus. Seek out students that are attending and ask them how classes are or how the sports teams are or the fraternity/sorority situations. Keep in mind that no matter where you choose you will likely switch your major so make sure the school offers all of your choices. Keep a solid set of friends that you can hang out with on a regular basis, but don't exclude new people from the group. Get involved with any organizations that sound fun, but don't get so committed that you forget to do work. You can always stop going to group meetings with no problem, but retaking a class is a major hassle.
There is always so much to do, but never enough time because of my workload.
