Kent State University at Kent Top Questions

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Chassidy

I love Kent but holy mother of pearl is it expensive. Even living off campus and having several scholarships it's still difficult to pay. However if you can get the scholarships or loans I highly recommend it.

Kara

I love my school. I am really enjoying my major, and I enjoy how large it is. It's like one big community.

Justin

The best thing about the school is the overall feeling on campus. It is a large school, but at the same time it has a feeling of togetherness and camaraderie.

I absolutely love Kent State University. The student body is diverse, and I rarely ever see tension between students. While it is a large school, it is spaced out effectively so that students are not overcrowded. Furthermore, every dealing that I've had with administrators and the people who work in the offices have been very rewarding. One woman at the financial aid office helped find me extra school funding just so I did not have to go through the trouble of getting a loan through the bank! The only complaint I have is the disorganization in the advising offices when it comes to scheduling for majors and minors. Many students are told to take unnecessary classes or have to take extra classes because their adviser misinformed them.

It really has some very hard majors. As well as having some very easy majors. I like how large the school it. There's a lot of school pride and a lot of partying!

Erik

I love this school! It has so much to offer and the professors are excellent!

Kent has an amazing campus, there is always something going on. I also thing we have a lot of healthy and yummy food options, which is hard to find in a college setting. The best part is our state of the art rec center, even if you don't like working out, you'll find a reason to spend time there, IT'S THAT AMAZING. Our campus is relatively big and our local community is a "college town" I wish it was easier to get to the town, for those without a car. Everyone that goes to Kent, loves it. Although we aren't known for our athletics, you will always find a reason to go to the games.

I attend a branch campus of Kent State University, and I LOVE the fact that I can complete my entire degree right at the branch without having to commute to the main campus. So it's great that the branch is so close to home! I enjoy that the campus is small (very small), making it easy to get to know the professors and others students. Having transferred from Youngstown State University, I ogle at the professionality of the faculty at Kent. Especially the professors, who actually want to teach the students, and the advisors who are mavericks of the system. Kent Trumbull needs to provide an outlet for creativity! Right now the look and feel is about as inspiring as my psych professor's drone. How about BRIGHT RED sofas in the lounge or a floor to ceiling bulletin board from one end of the hall to the other?

Overall I think it is good depending on your major. Certain departments are world renowned, but overall, I think that there are much better schools even just in Ohio. The administration at Kent is very much so concerned with enrollment numbers over actual education of students, and it shows more and more every year.

The best thing about Kent State is the DIVERSITY. You will meet different people everyday, and it really allows you to grow as a student. It is a rather large school which can be challenging when trying to get more one on one attention from professors, but there is a lot a lot to do! I spend most of my time on campus in the student center or the newly remodeled library. ANother wonderful thing about Kent is that the surrounding community is vastly growing. With new restaurants and stores added in students are always entertained. Kent is never dull and there are many opportunities to meet wonderful people.
