The first thing you might notice is the trees. Leaves blanketing the gently rolling hillocks, and the trees that frame stately old buildings like Pardee Hall and Van Wickle. Then you turn a corner, and you might be looking at a slanting glass-and-slate building with all its windows ablaze and the sea of students wearing a path into the tile floor as they filter in and out of Skillman Library. If the weather's nice, you'll see people lounging on the quad, catching the last rays of the autumn sun and tossing a Frisbee around before it gets too cold. People sitting in the Atrium of the student center, or adding extra chairs to a table of four at the dining hall because they're joining their friends for lunch. There's solitude when you want it and company when you need it, and you'll find both at Lafayette.
