I am currently studying Studio Art at Norco College and have won the Outstanding Drawing Award for 2023 at the Art Student Invitation Exhibition at this university. I have just been admitted to Laguna College Art of Design and have conducted extensive research on this school before registering. Firstly, this school is located at a moderate distance from my home, and its faculty and expertise in painting are also attractive to me, It is also located near Laguna Beach. Every time students go to school for classes, they are also breathing in the fresh air of the seaside. For art students, this seems to be a source of inspiration. Of course, my real goal is still to truly improve and learn in the field of painting art, and to successfully obtain my undergraduate diploma, Continuing my master's studies, my current plan is to apply to this school for a master's degree, unless I suddenly move. As a mother of three daughters, I have to take care of my family and daughters' lives while studying. This is a regret and a huge challenge. However, I am willing to work hard to overcome these difficulties to achieve my dream of graduating from university. My painting has participated in multiple art exhibitions in the United States and China, And there are news media reports. So if I want to improve in the field of painting, only this school has the most suitable painting major for me. Whether it's drawing or painting, I can get better quality learning in this major.
It is a great art school if you're looking for somewhere that's not too big or crowded, the staff and students there are wonderful and very skilled. The school also has great connections to industries such as Disney, Blizzard, Riot and other entertainment companies and having a small school can allow for more connections to be made.
It's a really nice place and the majors here are the ones I truly am looking for. The classes for a career that I aim towards align as well as the community is friendly and the architecture is beautiful as is the view beside the ocean, the design of such a place is very enlightening to minds at work for art and such. I would love to study here if it were possible.
Overall my experience at LCAD has been a great one. Sure it could be bigger, but what is really important to me are the classes. I have learned so much in my classes, and the professors are not only great artists but they also seem genuinely invested in our growth. Additionally, the college provides us great resources with workshops, guest speakers and counseling. There could be improvements made to administration, and the student lounge, but I can overlook that based on the education I have received thus far.

The advice I would give myself would be to be ready to work hard and long hours on projects. College is much different from high school, where as a student in high school homework assignments can be done within a few hours, and college assignments at an art school take long hours, weeks, and a lot of preparation before final projects are due. Competition is another factor at an art college, it is not a field one can easily fit into. I would also tell myself to practice as much as possible. It is difficult to compete when there is someone steps ahead of you, for the reason people in college are at different levels and skills. I would definitely tell myself to assure this is what I want for myself and research art careers before making the jump to a four year college. I often have seen students drop out for the reason the workload can overwhelm. I would also advise myself to have fun, do not overthink, and always expect the unexpected.
You should attend this school if you are interested in a small, quaint environment, if you like a close community of students (there are only about 300), and professors that are able to get personal work done with you. If you are the type of person who likes to get heard, come here: there is plenty of opportunity to voice your opinion and get feedback on it too! This school is for those with great interest in the fine arts, but there is also a great game art and graphic design major.
Don't attend if you like a big school with a grand campus and impressive classroom sizes. Don't attend if you would like a cafeteria handy (there's no food service here, only the vending machine), or if you like a lot of students walking around. Don't attend if you are looking for performing arts like music or drama.
Laguna College of Art and Design not only offers the best they can to their students, but they procure some of the best graduates.
The difference from LCAD than other colleges is, it is focused on art related fields. The faculty is well respected in their careers outside of the school and bring foundation courses before bringing advanced course studies. Students learn step by step of the skills needed to survive in an art related field, wether it's painting and drawing, sculpture, game art, animation or graphic design. Other colleges I have attended to, do not cover the full abilities and skill one needs to be succesful.
They work you hard and the nest that you can when it comes to the work that you love. They have wonderful connections to studios and film departments to work in and the area is definitely made for all artists alike!
While the location and campus are stunning, the programs offered are strong and the staff/faculty are not only considerate but largely experienced in each of their individual fields, which definitely helps to further the growth of the students in attendance. Having a small campus focused almost entirely on the arts helps to guide each individual student towards their speciality as they delve further into their fields of study as well as their future, and having such dedicated teachers is a tremendously helpful thing.
that community college is a viable option if you are unsure of your major, I wasted 3 years at a University before I discovered that LCAD was the place for me. Community collegesare a great place to get the basics without burning a hole in your pocket or wasting time learning something you may not choose to do.
The only thing that I would change about my school is the price. I love everything form the students and teachers to the small, quaint, campus riddled with sculptures of the human figure contrasted by modern architecture. My only desire is for transportation, the 2 hour bus ride eats very valuable time that I can't use for homework due to the nature of the public transit system and art itself. The tuition is reasonable but still a very high mountain to climb for someone in my position.
I am most proud of the school's small classes and incredibly attentive and passionate teachers and faculty. Every one of the teachers was recently or is currently in the Game Industry which gives hard working students the edge then need to break into the field.

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA. Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible.
