Lake Tahoe Community College is a small sized school that's big on friendliness and education. This college makes me feel very welcomed, whether it's students who are always open to a friendly chat- or professors and counselors who have the opportunity to give you a more personalized college experience. The education is one of the best I've received, and the location beautiful. It's never hard to find a parking spot, or a friendly face to chat with.

Leandra

I really like this college and I'm glad I decided to enroll. The counselors are knowledgeable and so are the instructors. The art program is small, but if you put effort into your work, it's a fabulous program. My only complaint is that there is limited housing available in the area.

Shenee

It is an amazing college it is in a relaxing beautiful nature setting and has a comfortable feel to it. The parking lot has always had open parking spaces. The classrooms are clean, organized and well designed. The staff is always friendly, kind and helpful.

Lake Tahoe Community College FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Lake Tahoe Community College?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Lake Tahoe Community College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would tell myself a couple of things. First, don't go to a community college. People say that it makes the college transition easier, but I've found that it's not. When you pick a 4-year university that you want to transfer to, you have to figure out which classes at one institution match with which classes at the other institution. For me, that's quite difficult. Second, I would let myself know that there is a considerable amount more of studying required for college classes then high school classes. That fact is common sense, but I don't think high school students are aware of just how much more studying is actually involved. I know that I underestimated it and struggled my first semester of college because of that.

One of its most unique programs is the Intensive Spanish Summer Institute which is a one week, all day long program with professors for all around the world. Students come from everywhere to experience this amazing week.

Being a small school, there is a limited supply of money. One way this has affected me and my experience is there is a minimum of students necessary for a class to run. Because of this there are many classes that are cancelled which is a pain.

  7. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

I tell my friends that the school is extremely small and therefore the classes are smaller. The students get more one-on-one time with the professors and the professors actually get to know their students instead of seeing them as just another student ID number on their roster.

  8. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

One of my teachers doesn't really give great feedback with regards to our assignments. It is a distance learning class (online), but he should still let us know exactly why we're getting the grades we're getting. I feel like all my other teachers are great and nurturing, as they should be, but he just isn't on board.
