I appreciate that my school has several campuses spread out through Wisconsin and offers all courses in BlendEd format; it allows people to attend Lakeland regardless of where they live in Wisconsin, or anywhere for that matter.
I just transferred to Lakeland College after obtaining my Associates degree at a technical college so I haven't had a lot of time there yet, but so far I really appreciate the friendly staff and their quick, helpful responses to any questions the students have.
The best thing about Lakeland College is all types and ages of people can feel comfortable to sucessfully complete a college degree. Full time or part time, you always know that you have the resources as a student to complete classes or projects to your satisfaction.
What I consider to be the best thing about my school is the size. Lakeland is a fairly small school, yet I believe because of its size there is so much more that can be done. For example, the faculty members (for the most part) take time out of their day to get to know as many students as possible. They do their best to ensure they ask students how their class are, how their days are and even how their personal lives are. It seems as though because we are a small school it is very family oriented.
The availability of help for students who are struggling academically. There are tutors, nightly study groups and professors are always available to help those who request it. If you are in a sport, your coach may hold mandatory study groups for players who are under a certain grade.
I believe the class sizes are very helpful. The teachers are able to address you by name and make sure that you are understanding the material, and if you don't they will let you come in for help if you need it. The class sizes are small, so it doesn't make students as shy if they want to participate, becuase most of the time students are scared they are going to anwser wrong, so then they are scared to participate. I think I will be able to get a better job with my professors help.
The small class sizes are fantastic. I love the way in which students are encouraged to interact with one another. I also love our high percentage of international students (almost 20{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c}). The professors are amazing, kind, caring people that want their students to do well. It's incredible how much one-on-one time a student can have with any professor of their choice. Most of the learning happens in conversation with people of great wisdom at Lakeland.
I love the diversity and how accepted everyone is. We have a lot of nontraditional and international students and we all get along wonderfully. The small class sizes and personal help from the profewssors is also a big plus.
I love how helpful everyone is, between the financial aid people and the counselors you can't slip through the cracks and not get enough money for school unless you let it happen.
