Wish the school put the money we pay them to the best use. Recent renovations are an improvement but great work is still to be done !

Le Moyne is a very friendly college. There’s a lot of different clubs and sports to join and everyone is very helpful if you are ever lacking in a subject. Very beautiful campus as well. Le Moyne is on a hill so there are great views to be seen walking to and from classes.

Star

When I first stepped on campus I felt like I belong there. I toured several campuses before this one but only Le Moyne made me feel at home. The sense of christian culture but also the acceptance if you don't follow it won me over immediately. The housing is good, and the class sizes are small which gives a better opportunity for one on one tutoring. Plenty of majors and opportunities to exile, a real solid school.

Le Moyne is an incredible place to be. The people are warm and welcoming and always look out for each other. Some of the staff can be a little rude but other than that most people here are very nice. The academics are pretty good, some teachers are easier than others but that can be said about a lot of places.

Le Moyne College FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Le Moyne College?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Le Moyne College is 65%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I could give all college freshmen one thing (along with their microwaves, course books, fake IDs, and anxieties) it would be this advice: “College is what YOU make of it.” I consider this paramount to all contrary advice and essential to success. Why? Well, through many mistakes, I discovered that being assertive with my academic, athletic, and social life was the golden key. I had to be the one to approach the professor when the organic chemistry homework was impossible. I had to be the one to drain a cup of coffee before a 7:00 track practice. I had to leave my dorm door open that first, homesick week away from home. I had to be the one to lay down the law when my roommate sold alcohol to minors. I had to be responsible. I had to grow. I had to become an adult. Through my assertiveness in college, I am awestruck to have learned more about myself. However, none of this could have happen if I had not made the first move. So, get on the offensive and make something out of college. At least, that is what I consider the most valuable lesson taught.

  5. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing about my school would be the work required for classes. It is avery good school and yes, the classes are tough. A lot of writing is required, given it being a liberal arts school, and many core classes such as philosophy and religion are required which can be challenging at times added to main classes for your major.

  14. What is your overall opinion of this school?

In a nutshell: sorta small, it'll feel big at first but you eventually recognize most people. People go here from all over: mostly the Northeastern US but I know students from California, Nebraska, Spain, Taiwan, Korea, etc. We're sort of seen as SU's smaller sibling, since we share the city of Syracuse with them. Administration is very concerned with the students, and is always looking for new ways to improve the campus...especially the residence halls and athletics! Also: the food is pretty good, I can't lie. We're probably most well known for our basketball team beating Syracuse's basketball team, and for our spontaneous spring all-day party, Dolphy Day.

  15. What is the stereotype of students at your school?

We're all rich white kids who are heavily Catholic and/or religious because we go to a Jesuit institution. Also, a lot of people think we wanted to go to Syracuse University but didn't get in, so we 'settled' with Le Moyne.

  16. What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Most people are extremely friendly! RAs especially, the RA selection process is pretty intense. Many people have doors wide open, and the lounges are always full of people talking/studying/goofing around. Everyone is in at least one or two clubs, and if you aren't on one of the NCAA sports teams most people are involved in the club teams or the intramural games which are pretty fun. We don't have frats/sororities, but most parties take place at sports team houses within walking distance of campus. Parties are pretty frequent, and if there isn't anything going on at LMC, the SU greek houses are a $5-10 cab ride away which is convenient. There's always some kind of student programming event Thurs-Sun nights for those who don't like to drink, such as bingo/movie night/bowling/snow tubing. Dances are VERY well attended, Halloween Dance, Snow Ball and Blacklight Dance especially.

  17. What are the academics like at your school?

Largest class I've ever been in was a science lecture of about 120 people, but that's unheard of at LMC. Classes normally run about 20-30 kids, but there are many smaller than that. Labs are always fewer than 20 kids and lectures can run anywhere from 20 to 100 kids, but the professor will usually try to get to know everyone. Advisors are major-specific and meeting with them is mandatory before class registration, which is helpful.

  18. Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

Not at all. Many kids who go here did go to a Catholic or Jesuit high school, but not everyone is a die-hard Catholic and far from everyone is religious. With the amount of financial aid everyone I know receives, we aren't really a 'rich kid' school...and we're not idiots either, most people choose Le Moyne over SU because of the school size and more residential/suburban campus.
