What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Stephanie

As of right now, I do wish I knew more about the classes and what transfer classes can be used in my plan of study and which classes I still need to take so I may manage my scheduale on my own and not have someone looking over my shoulder as if I am in high school. It feels overbearing that way. I also wish I knew more about each club and organization and what they each have to offer since a lot of the clubs I did not have at my old college.

Michael

I wish I would have known about the university's ambitions. I feel that, because they lowered their standards for admissions, the university's rankings also fell on US news and world report. This would have been fine, if and only if, they did not charge tuition rates of $30000/year not including room and board. The rankings did not justify the price tag and if I would have known they had no intentions of becoming more competitive, I would never have enrolled.

Maxianne

That most people go home on weekends.

Audrey

This is a suitcase school. Mostly everyone lives nearby and goes home on the weekends.

Chelsea

Almost everyone is from Long Island, those who aren't from Long Island are international students. The people here aren't the frendliest.

Aliana

i wish i would have known how many commuter students their are to residents. Alot of the kids go to the city for the weekend so its more of a campus life mon - thurs and you have to find stuff to do.

Melanie

I wish I had known that dorming would be easier than commuting. But dorming is expensive and that is really just out of the question for alot of people.

aaron

if you are not from the area people tend to distance themselves from you. people found me to be odd and i only live 3 hours away.

Melissa

I would have picked a different school with a better communications department

Jackie

I wish I had known what a scam it was in that the programs I was apart of were heavily underfunded, while the gym was coated in brand new equiptment. I wish I had known how to beat financial aid and bursar at stealing my borrowed money. I wish I had known a school that carried my major other than this one, since I could not find an undergraduate program offering the same degree. Most of all I wish I had gone somewhere else.

Asha

Nothing.

Nicole

I wish I had fully investigated the scholarship requirements before making assumptions. Students of any college should also be aware of all degree opportunities just in case they decide to switch majors.

Rudy

What I do not like about this school is on the weekends sometimes it is dead and I live far away. Overall the school is great. In the near future, however, they will need to upgrade some buildings.

Philip

I wish I had known more about how to carry myself around a group of new people better.

Michela

I wish I had known what to bring, and what to be prepared for; but i believe this is true for any college incoming freshman.

chrystal
