Longwood University Top Questions

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Taylor

I wish I had known more about signing up for classes. It's really hard at my school to make meetings with advisors because they are so busy. By the time we set up meetings, our deadline for something has already passed and we have to wait until next semester to take a class or to sign up for something we needed to sign up.

I wish I would've known more people that went to Longwood. I came in knowing no one. Even though it was pretty exciting making a fresh start on friends. I also felt that I wasn't quite prepared to go to college yet. The high school to college transition is a big step. Going from never really having to study much in high school to having to do more work in one semester than in the four years I was in high school. I just wish I would've been more prepared for the change.

Farmville isn't a very big town and therefore, there's not much here to do.

Sororities are a big deal here, but I never had a problem with making friends or in classes having never joined a sorority. Everyone is very helpful, though, at times can be very cliquey. The campus is beautiful and the students care about the campus and upholding is beauty. There is a no smoking policy on campus which I believe really cut down on litter. Longwood is mainly female in population though, more and more males are enrolling.

I wish they had told me how offensively apathetic the administraion is. once they have your money they don't care what you want or need.

Jessica

That it is more expensive than what they said.

Can't really think of anything off the top of my head. Orientations and Open houses were very informative.

I wish I would have know how little parking there is and how hard it is to find a parking spot. I also would have wanted to know how many people smoke on this campus. However it has gotten better since they made designated smoking zones.
