During the pandemic I felt they did not handle it as good as other schools did in and outside of LACCD but before the pandemic I never had a problem with the college. I actually enjoyed Pierce college pre-pandemic but since the pandemic the counselors have been impossible to meet with and some professors just do not know how to teach online or hybrid classes.

Great school going to graduate soon and my experience there has been great met new friends and enjoy learning . The professors I have had so far are great you just have to find the right ones. Students get a long you will find your group not really much going on students are more there to get there learning done and graduate to either transfer or to start working in their majors. Overall a great school

Jennifer

My overall opinion of Pierce College is a great 9 out of 10. The campus is very clean and there are administrators who always greet you nicely. As a freshman at Pierce I can truly say that Pierce makes you feel like home, where it's safe and a great campus to study in.

Lorena

The classes are so overpopulated and enrolling is so difficult.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would have a lot of advice to give myself if I can go back in time. First I would tell myself to really look into the type of college I want to attend and do everything I could to see what the college is like before making a final decision. Then once you decide what type of college you want to go to don't change your mind so you can please someone else and don't let yourself be pressured to pick a certain college because someone wants you to. Next don't get discouraged if you didn't get into your first choice for a school and make sure you have a backplan if that were to happen. Also, look for as many scholarships as you can and don't be to picky about the scholarship because it will be good to do all of them. Lastly, don't wait till the last minute and get things done as soon as you can because it will be easier on yourself and you have more fun in college when you don't stress.

That there seems to be a little unsafe due to crime. There were several lockdowns last year and there were also some stories of sexual assault happening on campus. The campus and parking lots get very dark and deserted at night, which is scary and unsafe, especially for women.

  6. What's unique about your campus?

I think out of all the other community colleges in the district, Pierce is definitely the most diverse in terms of ethnicity and differences in general. I love going to a campus knowing that there are people different than I so that I can learn more. I would never want to go to a school full of a bunch of clones because I feel I would never learn anything about any cultures or different walks of life. Even different generations come to the campus to learn. It definitely enriches my education.

  7. What kind of person should attend this school?

I feel that many people belittle the community colleges because they do not the letters "UC" in front of their name but these institutes provide a stimulating and challenging environment that allow a person to grow academically and as an overall human being. I think the kind of person who should attend this school is a person who is commited and focused in achieving their academic goals. One who is determined in obtaining a degree and succeeding in their profession. Basically, a person who sincerely wants to build their future in the right direction through honest work.
