There are some very 'well-off' students per say. But, there are also students who are not so to this stereotype. A lot of students put much time and effort into their community, school, work, and friendships. The campuses (downtown and lakeshore) are EXTREMELY different, so if you go to a tour, make sure you see both. Loyola students do not have a huge social scene.

Emily

Preppy, white, mainly girls, the only guys that go to the school are gay

Loyola isn't really recognized for its avid social life. Most people see it as a rigorous pre-med school. Loyola doesn't have any male students, and if they're guys: they're gay.

Loyola students are all pre-med students. Loyola students are all Catholic. Loyola students are all rich. Loyola students are all pretentious. Loyola students are all alcoholics. Loyola girls are all sluts, the men gay or conceited straight men.

Kenneth

There are some people who tell me that I'm smart since I'm attending Loyola--which is true--and I get a lot of people who give me that shocker face since the school is expensive. But it is definitely affordable. And sitting in a lecture class of a few hundred students, we have 60{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c}-70{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} biology majors who tend to lean toward pre-med. So the chances to spark up a conversation with a pretty girl is easy. All you have to say is, "Are you a bio major? Me too!"

Maria

Some of the stereotypes that I have heard from people before entering into Loyola Chicago was that the students were very studious and devoted to their school work. Also, I heard that there was not much campus life due to the School being based in Chicago. Some other stereotypes of Loyola was that the people were very religious based.

Michael

Many people believe that Loyola is a stuck up school with stuck up people situated in a bad neighborhood.

John

A common stereotype about loyola is that the school is about two-thirds women and the few men are gay. There is also a stereotype that the school is super religious.

Emily

Loyola defines itself as a fine arts Jesuit school; somewhat of an oxymoron. But it contains a diverse student body. Some stereotypes include liberal left-wing political activists, quiet, artsy musicians and theater geeks, a mediocre greek life system, a sparse male population, constant protesters of miscellaneous issues, bio and chem bookworms, an overpopulation of women bookworms, as well as highly motivated and well dressed business majors.

That half the student population is gay, lesibian, or bi-sexual. Campus is extremely diverse, but even more prejudice. Only white people attend Loyola. Only nerds go to Loyola.

One stereotype is that Loyola has no social scene, and that the school doesn't have any "school spirit" or many school activities. One could say that the student population is very anti-social and separated.

A BASTION OR STRONGHOLD FOR HOMOSEXUAL STUDENTS...LOYOLA FALLS OVER ITSELF TO BE POLITICALLY CORRECT

rich preppy kids + bunch of gay kids

Emily

preppy, upper class, well-dressed northface and ugg wearing students

Angelika

Because Loyola is a private, Jesuit university, it is stigmatized with being a typical Catholic school. With that comes the stereotype of the wealthy, conservative students living off of daddy's credit card and being dumb. Prior to going to Loyola I also heard the girl population (which is nearly 70{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c}) was really unattractive.

Jesse

Being a private university, it is common to hear outsiders call Loyola students to be "white, rich and preppy".

Alexis

The biggest stereotype at Loyola is that people who go to Loyola only concern themselves with drinking and partying. Another one is that people attending Loyola aren't very smart or driven to achieve things because of preconcived notions such as the drinking stereotype.

Melissa

From an insider's perspective, it's easy to see what the views of our students are...that they are from Illinois (the suburbs, mostly), they are middle or upper class, and they are poster children for Urban Outfitters.

Rebekah

Most people think that all students at Loyola are Roman Catholic.

Kevin

Loyola is 90{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} girls and 10{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} other

Jamie

According to our enemies who attend Northwestern, a university set in bourgeois country (Evanston) just north of Rogers Park, Loyola is the safety school for those of us not enlightened enough to attend their school; in short, we are inferior in all ways - whether it be intelligence, prestige, or wealth.

Andy

There are many gay guys.

Kristen

That they're all white, Catholic and pre-med. That they don't party was much as they study and don't get out much.

Paige

Private school stuck ups, nerds, gay people, liberals.

Emily

A lot of people think that because Loyola is a Catholic university that everyone here is Catholic, conservative, and that there is little diversity.
