We Asked Students, What's your overall opinion of this school?

Anna

Loyola's Biology department is full of great professors. Overall, the school has a small community which can be both a positive and negative. It is easy to feel a part of a community, but the school gets cliquey at times. Classes are also limited since the spots and professors are few. There are few dining options on campus, but New Orleans is full of local food to try.

Marisa

Loyola New Orleans is the perfect place for individual growth. The professors are constantly encouraging you to become the best version of yourself, and they really take the time to get to know who that might be. Student involvement in campus activities is high, and students are encouraged too be active members of the campus community. Loyola really feels like a home, and is the perfect place to learn academically, and to learn about oneself as well.

Laura

I like Loyola University and it is a great place to meet new people and make connections! However, in my department some classes have been left up to teachers that have no experience as graphic designers and it has been difficult to take these classes seriously and learn new information.

Alexandra

Loyola is a great school if your into partying and doing well in school. If your not into one then your going to have a hard time. The business school is not the best but their music program is fantastic. The internet in New Orleans is bad and it is even worse on campus. Expect to lose internet weekly if not daily. Public transportation is completely unreliable in the town, but the roads are almost worse with pot holes everywhere. Would recommend living off campus as the living situation is a lot better. There are many housing options within walking distance so suffering on campus is not worth it in my opinion. Most of the teachers really care about their students. I love the school but wish that kids partied a little less

Jorri

Naturally this Loyola University receives cool points due to the fact that it is followed by New Orleans. It is a beautiful city, deeply immersed in culture, arts and mystery. These extraordinary traits have been carefully, creatively woven through campus life and the education garnered in my experience as a first-year student. I look forward to the rest of my time spent at Loyola University of New Orleans.

Loyola University New Orleans is the perfect place for everyone. Faculty, staff, and administration are so welcoming. It is great to see such a diverse student body, with a healthy mix of in-state, out of state, and international. Everyone at Loyola is so accepting and it is so refreshing to see such widespread positivity!

Rebekah

Loyola University-New Orleans is a great private, liberal arts school in Louisiana. It is a small school, therefore students get to know one another as well as their professors. It is a good school to go to if you are considering graduate school in the sciences or the humanities. The Honors program is particularly great at this school, even going as far as to house all of the incoming honors students living on campus on the same dorm floor. This fosters great and lasting friendships with your fellow honors program students.

Kathy

Loyola is overall a great school, but from what I have seen the sports administration is far to worried about catching their athletes doing "bad" stuff rather than helping them improve on what they actually went to school there for. They are wasting time and money on trying to catch athletes who are not doing anything and that to me is astonishing because I have never seen coaches this dedicated to trying to kick someone off the team when that person has an extreme amount of potential. Call me crazy, but that just shouldn't be what a coach is about, and I'm extremely disappointed in what I have witnessed and what I have heard. My nephew deserves better.

There is a school out there for everyone, but this school is specifically for just one type of person. Loyola is geared toward those who are musically inclined and are interested in smoking and laying down new tracks as a source of entertainment on the weekends. Rappers doling out their business cards and/or SoundCloud accounts can be found on every inch of campus. While the superior academics make up for the general sense of apathy about school spirit and activities, when it comes down to it, people that attend Loyola are just happy to be in New Orleans and surrounded by people similar to them. The school itself means little to nothing.

Maya

Loyola is a great school. The campus is beautiful and it’s in a beautiful area of New Orleans. There are a lot of restaurants and bars nearby, and it’s pretty easy to Uber anywhere else. The classes are small. The teachers and staff seem to really care. There is a strong focus on using your talents to help others.

Overall, Loyola University New Orleans is a great college and environment to be apart of. All the students, faculty and administrators are extremely helpful and want you to achieve everything you can and more. It's one of the most inclusive places I've had the honor to attend. How close-knit it is here is unparalleled. The architecture is also breathtaking and the on campus church is simply beautiful. The school is more than a place to learn, rather it's somewhere designed to help everyone find their niche in their own way.

Amber

This is one of the best smaller universities I have ever visited. Now that I am a student here, I marvel at how accessible the professors are and how much the culture is established to assist every student with career services, academic success offices, and even fellow students being willing to share outlines.

Damonia

I believe that Loyola University New Orleans is a university unlike any other. It is a school located in one of the most historical cities in the United States, a private school focused on the greater good of their students. Their campus is beautiful and their history program is astounding. It is a school for students who want the big campus experience without the big campus.

Laura

Loyola is a great university, their nursing faculty are all doctorally prepared and are very knowledgable and involved in student success. The diversity of students provides for a multicultural learning environment. I am proud to be a doctoral student here.

Austin

Loyola is a great school if you like a smaller more intimate experience. We have about 3000 undergrad students. It's a very liberal, open-minded, and creative community. If college sports and greek life are your thing, Loyola's probably not for you. If you want to work in the entertainment industry this is the school for you!

Jania

It's a great school and has many opportunities for students. However, the food is not up to par; we are in the middle of New Orleans but our food isn't always seasoned and it doesn't taste good at all. Most teachers are kind but there are a couple of teachers that many people fear are racist and that isn't good.

Bobby

Loyola offers a plethora of courses for students to engage in in addition to a variety of majors. The professors are patient and understanding, and they will work with you to the best of their abilities. The student body is very friendly and willing to help each other. Overall, the atmosphere at Loyola University-New Orleans is simply sublime.

Luis

Loyola University, New Orleans is one of the best universities in the United States. We are on the French Quarter, where we celebrate the Mardi Gras, (before the Ash Wednesday), but we have a lot of activities during the year. We celebrate the French history and the Spanish history, because is the only state that was domain by Spain and by France, before being part of the United States. The weather is a little changing, but we have lot of parks and lot of places where you can be one with the nature. The student services are hilarious and the food is very rich, giving the opportunity of mixed the cultures that are part of our community. If you want to get a full experience of your university, you should consider Loyola University at New Orleans, Louisiana.

Derineisha

Beautiful campus, wonderful staff and helpful students everywhere on campus. There is always something to be involved in, and to meet new people. The campus is in the heart of the city so everything on campus and outside of campus plays a major part to the school and the culture of New Orleans. I cannot wait to complete my school years here at this campus and to graduate and say that this was the best experience for me.

Alyssa

I love to intimate size of campus and classrooms. The facilities could use some work, but after all, the school was founded just about 500 years ago. Most people here are locals, but you also have a healthy mix of people from other states, and countries.

Anna

A school full of kind students and staff, most who are passionate about what they are studying or teaching. New Orleans is a great city for school, there are a lot of things to do nearby, that's for sure. Though a lot of things means there is a decent amount of partying. There is a lot of parties going on but you have to either hang out with people who like attending or just actively look out for it. Also, the school does really do its best to encourage students to go to the success center, please use it to your advantage. It is very helpful, has helped my GPA, and the staff is always kind and ready to help!

Fremin

Although I do not currently attend Loyola, I have been to visit on multiple occasions, gone through the entire application and audition process, and many of my close friends are currently attending the school. Every experience I have had with Loyola has been enjoyable. The people are very nice and the artistic atmosphere is exactly what I am looking for as a student.

Sydney

Amazing place to be part of. The community, peers, and educators are a huge help. The sense of community and belonging in this school is very powerful. Loyola is resourceful with many different connections that facilitate your experience within your field. The professors seem to genuinely care on if you pass or fail.
