The size of the school was perfect; it allowed for a true close-knit feel of the community. I always felt at home when walking around the campus. Not only with the students, but the professors and staff would make a point to stop and say, "Hey, how are you today?". Many students and staff were very open to meeting knew people and were always friendly. It was always comforting going to study or eat at the cafe on campus and know that you would always run into friends and professors. It truly turned into a home away from home.

Its a place where you are surrounded by great friends and even better attitudes. There is always a person to say hi to walking down the side walk. After a chapel service dedicated to a Luther student who recently passed away, a complete stranger gave me a hug when she saw how upset I was at the loss of our mutual friend. The community and caring atmosphere at Luther is unbeatable.

The community at the this school is spectacular, and very supportive. We are a close-knit group of students who are very trusting and open. It is in a small town, and the school and city are very interwoven. The professors here are here because they want to, and they really enjoy teaching. Their main priority is the students, not their research, and the one on one attention you get is awesome.

I love how Luther is so community oriented. The freshmen orientation program is great at helping people get comfortable with the school and area right away and it's amazing how quickly this place becomes like home. I also love how there is always something fun going on, either right on campus or just a short walk away in downtown Decorah. One of the big selling points for me as well was the faith-centered learning that is present here as well and all the opportunities to get involved with college ministries if that's something you're into.

Marybeth

Luther College is the friendliest place I have ever been. The book shop, for example, is like a gift shop at disney world! The women working the counter are always smiling, and they are full of friendly chatter, even if all you need is change for a ten. People you don't know will smile and say 'hi' as you pass on the sidewalk. There is only one cafeteria on campus, so it's always full of people you know exchanging jokes and happy greetings. Mr. Rogers is jealous of how friendly our neighborhood is.

Shelby

I would consider the best thing at Luther to be the amazing oportunities, although it is a small city, Decorah has a lot of stuff to do. If you enjoy nature, it is amazing. Luther has so much to offer as far as places and things that you can do outside. You can take a ride on the bike path, go fishing, hiking, mountain biking, snoeshoeing, cross country skiing, camping- the list is endless. Luther has the greatest opportunities for people who love nature because everything is so accessible. Luther may not seem hopping but there is plety to do.

The available opportunities one can pursue on campus and the support given in this pursuit. Faculty and staff are very supportive of students pursuits and you can often find a way to get real opportunities while still enrolled. This is the best thing because it allows you to see what you're getting into and to explore what you want to do. d

Campus is huge for the size of the student population. The dorms are all very clean and nice looking. Liberal and eco-friendly!

Andrea

Luther's atmosphere is what attracted me to the school. People say they feel it right when they step on campus. I always felt like I was part of a community, where I was comfortable to explore, learn and grow. I made life-long friends during my college career, ones that lived on my freshman floor. The alumni are always talking about their time at Luther, and wearing a Luther sweatshirt will strike up a conversation with some seemingly random person across the country. Its a great place to belong.

Elise

The people. There are always people to help you out with your questions, whether it is your R.A. , your professor, your advisor, or other helpful faculty member.
