Overall, I think the college has a beautiful campus and very friendly professors. Every time I visit I find myself satisfied with the help and the advice they offer me. The only thing that is disappointing is their admissions office. When I was enrolling I had a lot of questions and confusion on the program I entered, but whenever I called the admissions office they always told me that they were busy. Visiting the school, however, I finally got my answers and am satisfied with the program I have chosen. I am excited to further my education at Luzerne County Community College.

LCCC is the greatest, cheapest, bang-for-your-buck college in the entire NEPA area. The tuition is super low because it's a community college, this allows lower income students to get enough of an education to get job in their chosen field after graduation. The professors in the art building are the most caring, sincere, hilarious people I've ever met and I'm eternally grateful to them for taking the time to talk to each student individually about their projects and ideas. The art department here cares so intensely about their students and it's an amazing, affordable opportunity for anyone in the NEPA area that's willing to commute.

Sjon

It had a very nice diverse ethnic population, all with different hobbies and backgrounds. The professors are available in regular office hours, and some even go beyond and are available for more. The campus is far larger than most believe, and it's all in one place and very accessible.

Luzerne County Community College FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Luzerne County Community College?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Luzerne County Community College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would tell myself to listen to my parents. All the advice that I was given about not worrying about making friends and not trying too hard to create relationships with other people was true. Instead of putting all my focus on building life-long friendships during my first months away at school were not needed. The purpose of college is to study and gain knowledge that you will need in the future and all the extraordinary people that you meet along the way are just an added benefit. I would tell my high school self that absorbing the skills and knowledge that the instructors and proffessors will provide to me takes focus, effort and hard-work - friendships do not.

Luzerne County Community College is best known for its diversity in majors as well as the diversity on campus with its students. It is great for students who wish to commute from home or who dislike large colleges. The teachers are extremely easy to work with and will take time to work one on one with you, if you feel as if you are falling behind. They care for you, as if you are one of their own. You do not become lost within a crowd which is why I love this school.

Luzerne is a great school for just about anyone. It's a super place to start your education. The only type of person who should not attend LCCC is someone who has an elitist attutude;that is, someone who looks down on others. College is too expensive nowadays to turn away from the benefits of beginning school at a community college.

  12. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

Since it's a state funded school that offers courses at less that $100 per credit, the budget can be tight, and doesn't always have the resources that larger, more expensive schools may have. The cafeteria is lacking in nutritional meals (and no meal plan), and the parking situation can be frustrating (since all of the students are commuters).
