Maine College of Art Top Questions

Many people think that art college is art college and it doesn't matter which one you choose because you will learn the same things no matter what. This is far from the truth at Maine College of Art. MECA offers a more integrated experience than any other school I considered. There is a strong connection to the Portland arts district that exposes students to the reality of what it is to be a working artist. Being able to see and interact with the community helps expose students like myself to the vast possibilities that comes with an art degree.

In my opinion the best thing about Maine College of Art is the freedom to express yourself. The professors at the school encouraged that you grow into an individual and help you to reach your goals as an artist.

I think the best thing about my school would be our 24/7 access to the school building and studio facilities, which I know other art schools do not have. So as students living here we have access to work on our art and projects at any time of day or night, which is extremely helpful in getting our projects done in time for not only class due dates but our exhibitions and shows as well.

The best thing about this school is everything. Most of the teachers here are awesome, the students are alright, all be it a little crazy, but this is art school, so crazy in encouraged. We have a pretty huge library, and a ton of computer labs. Our location is nice, being right in the city, without being IN the city. I like all of it.
