Uniform Costs and the prices in general at the academy bookstore

The only problem with Maine Maritime Academy would be that it takes about fourty-five minutes to get to the nearest town.

I would have to say the location. The campus is beautiful and it is on the ocean. There are boats for students to use and programs for them to learn how to do so. However, the nearest city is almost an hour away and that makes it difficult to find recreational activities in the area. Also, the school is in a small town with mostly retirees. It limits your cirlce of friends to only the other students at the school. For people who like variety this becomes old.

I think that there could be more academic intensity placed on the students than what currently is being placed on them. With that, the school should become more academically selective than what it currently is because alot of students who are currently attending seem to not have the academic focus that colleges should require.

Location, its far away from most places, like supermarkets and shopping centers.

The social divide between regimented and non-regimented students.

The regiment of midshipmen. It takes the individuality out of everyone.

My school is by a huge majority guys. If you want to seek out women and find new girlfriends this place isn't for you. It is a quazi military academy so we wear a uniform and have some early mornings.

The school is far away from many things; it's basically in the middle of no where.

The worst thing about this school is the lack of cultural studies and activities. In many ways, the academy is more of a vocational school than it is a college. Students typically are not culturally aware, nor are they interested in culture. Many students hold an ignorant view of the outside world because they have been sheltered their entire lives in small-town communities. I wish that this school stressed the importance of the study of different cultures more, and offered more foreign language courses.

It is a small town with not much around. Sometimes to have something else to do you have to travel a bit.
