I believe that Marlboro is a great school made for a certain kind of individual. You are somewhat called to attend a school like Marlboro. The amount of opportunities offered for students is phenomenal! The professors are awesome, and very insightful. Students are nice but very socially awkward. Everyone is their own person at Marlboro, studying something different, with different styles, and different dreams.

I love Marlboro for its unique, self-designed program and town meeting-style governance, in which each student has a vote. I am able to study what interests me here, instead of following a pre-determined curriculum created by someone else. I can't picture myself anywhere else.
Marlboro College has a rigorous, writing-intensive academic program in southern Vermont. Each student's curriculum is self-designed to cater to their individual interests and passions. Students are encouraged to study broadly and draw parallels between cross-disciplinary subjects. The Marlboro experience culminates in an intensive independent senior project called the Plan of Concentration. Plan, as it is called, has been cited by many alumni as a key to their success in graduate studies by preparing them to write a graduate thesis.

Be very responsible! There are many things you need to keep in check: your homework, your tuition payments, and deadlines. The computer is your friend especially from the time you leave high school. Your email becomes your personal mailbox and you sign up for classes online, check your grades, and communicate with teachers. From here on out you need to work hard, make sure you ask your teachers questions if you do not uderstand or find tutoring. Your GPA and your units/credits matters most at this time. Getting a job at this point is also a very good idea, knowing about the cost and books, supplies, and classes themselves, that's why its smart to start at a community college if you are able to. Financial aid will help, but you need to also look for other sources of money too. Its nice to stay at home for the first couple years of college, but don't depend on your parents too much, you are an adult now, heading out in the real world and your goal is to encourage your self to be successful in school and get the dream job you had in mind and be proud

STOP PROCRASTINATING! The easiest and most helpful thing that you can do for yourself is to start things early and get them finished before you need to. Doing things at the last minute causes a ridiculous amount of unnecessary stress that can easily be prevented by using your time well. Sometime you may feel lazy or there might be more interesting things to go do, but it is far easier to do those things after you have accomplished the work that you need to do. Finishing projects early also gives you the opportunity to look at your work again and improve it; when you procrastinate, you don't have the time to proofread or double-check yourself.
Someone who is acidemically oriented, laid back, intelligent, and doesn't mind not leaving campus for a few weeks at a time.

I think the best thing about Marlboro is the relationship between the students and the teachers and the students and the school. Since Marlboro is such a small school, everyone knows each other very well. The teachers are amazing! You can sit down with your professor at lunch and carry a conversation about class or anything else. There are some amazing teachers at the school (i.e John Sheehy). The classes are small, intellectually stimulating, and always interesting. Since the school lets you design your own major, you end up having a tight knit relationship with the professor that ends up sponsoring you. As well, you can design your own tutorial with a group of other students and find a professor to teach it. Most people end up spending a lot of time in their dorms or other people's dorms or the library. Lots of people sleep in the library! There is a small college town 20 miles from campus. You can take a bus, hitchhike (which is relatively easy and always fun) or catch a ride from someone else. Brattleboro has a nice co-op to get food, some fast food, and few stores. Most students complain that there is nothing to do, but people always find things to do.
Pretty much everyone smokes at the school. There are some people that don't, but again, most people do.
Marlboro is composed of a bunch of hippie, pot heads.
