The type of person who should not attend Marquette University are people who are not willing to put in the time and effort it takes to do well here. If you don't like the city, you may not feel comfortable here since Marquette is right in the middle of downtown Milwaukee. Also, having a Catholic background is always helpful since it is a Jesuit institution, but it most definitely is not required.

The only type of person that should not attend Marquette, is someone who is unwilling to work hard. Yes, Marquette is academically rigorous, but i believe any one who wants to succeed, and is willing to try their best, is a good fit for this university.

Diego

A person who is not determined to succeed in their life at whatever it is they aspire to do should not come to Marquette University. Marquette, being a well respected university, offers numerous opportunities to its graduates. People who are looking to hire graduate students to work for them would be impressed when they see that someone received a degree from Marquette University. So someone who wouldn't capitalize on that type of opportunity should not come to Marquette, because there are thousands of other students who would be more than happy to receive that opportunity.

Paige

A person who should not attend Marquette University is someone that does not handle multiple responbilites at the same time very well. This university offers students many outlets to succeed, but in order to make the most of it, students must work very hard. To be a well-rounded student, school work is a priority, and having experience outside of the classroom is equally important. Being involved in clubs/ organizations that assist in your skills will benefit students significantly.

McKenzie

I don’t believe there is a right kind of person that should attend Marquette University. I have met such a wide variety of people in my short time there, all with different stories and dreams. As long as you are willing to work hard and dedicate yourself 100 percent at all times, you will do great at Marquette. It isn’t always easy, but the hard work will always pay off. Marquette is a very diverse campus, and I believe that no matter who you are, you will find it very easy to fit in on campus.

Courtney

Any person can attend Marquette University, although the person needs to be willing to challenge themselves, help others and make a difference. Marquette truly welcomes all people, but if a person isn't willing to challenge themselves or does not wish to increase their knowledge then Marquette may not be the best choice for that person. The four main qualities a Marquette student aquires throughout their years as a Marquete students are excellence, leadership, faith and service, so if a persson does not wish to obtain these wonderful qualities, then Marquette is not the school for them.

Attending Marquette University and being a part of the engineering program has been the most intellectually challenging thing I have ever done. Instead of discouraging anyone from attending Marquette, my advice would be to make sure you are prepared for the rigors of college. It is my personal belief that anyone can accomplish anything they set their mind to.

Lillian

Marquette University is an amazing school. It is a university with much diversity and is a beautiful campus. Everyone on campus is welcoming and the professors are very helpful. I feel Marquette is for anyone but for those who come from a small high school like me, I would recommend starting small and working your way to the large university.

Ayana

If a student isn't looking to be challenged academically then Marquette is not the place for them. At Marquette, students are encouraged to do their best in the rigorous classes provided. The student needs to have a strong desire to learn and achieve greater things because Marquette helps fulfill that need.

Kersten

A person that should not attend this school is a person that does not care about their education. Marquette is a place for driven students to get a great education by working hard and having a passion for learning. If you are not willing to try your hardest and use the vast knowledge provided by the professors, Marquette is not the school for you. Also, Marquette is located in the fast paced city of milwaukee, I would not reccomend Marquette to someone who doesn't enjoy the exciting and bustling city lifestyle.

Carissa

Those persons who should not attend Marquette University are those who do not see the value of interacting with people of different backgrounds than themselves. Part of what makes Marquette the accepting institution that it has become is the attitudes of those students who attend the university. Any person that isn't willing to put forth effort inside as well as outside the calssroom. The Marquette slogan is "be the difference" and the students here strive for that everyday. Marquette offers a wide array of groups that give a person the oppurtunity to give back and have fun well doing it. A person that isn't looking to learn a lot well having a great time doing it should probably not go to Marquette.

Ayssa

The kind of peson who shouldn't attend Marquette University is someone who is not open to a diverse community. The Marquette student body and outskirts of campus are extremely diverse because of the fact that the school is located in a large, downtown city.

Andrea

I don't think that there is a kind of person who shouldn't attend this school. From what I have seen in the semester that I have been on campus there is always something for everyone to do and there are all types of majors and courses offered that can be picked based on how much work you want to do or what you want to study.

Erika

Marquette University has high standards for their students and they expect them to work hard and put forth effort, so this is not the school for students who slack in school work and do not put forth the proper amount of time and effort.

Nikhita

A wonderful aspect of Marquette is the diversity that can be found within its campus. Located in diversified Milwaukee, it is home to every ethnic group, sexual orientation, or economic status. The only qualification one must consider is whether he is willing to expend much energy into his academic career. Those who feel academics are not important to them should not consider attending Marquette, as its classes are challenging and the need for determination is high.

Kristen

Marquette University is a school that allows students to have a chance to make a difference in their own education and how they can affect the world. I feel that a person who is self-centered and not willing to accept that in the world of today depending on one another makes the world stronger would not do well at Marquette. Marquette is here to provide education but to also show that helping in the community makes one more effective in their personal lives, and the in the lives of those surrounding them.

Karen

In my opinion, I think a person who is not ready for a challenge should not attend Marquette. Marquette is a school that challenges you both inside and outside of the classroom. So if a person is not ready to push themselves to achieve things that they may or may not have thought possible, then Marquette is not the right place for him or her.

Cara

I truly feel like Marquette has something to offer everyone. Anyone is capable of being a part of the Marquette community as long as they are willing to make an effort. I guess I would say someone who isn't very outgoing and who doesn't enjoy being in an urban environment shouldn't attend marquette. But, in the end, it's all what you make of your own experience.

Dominic

People who are not academically motivated or don't do well with a lecture style class structure.

Molly

A student who has a very low work ethic should not attend Marquette because they will immediately fall behind in classes. Marquette is very academic and only having a social life will hurt your school performance. Also, someone who is not able to get help paying for school, or someone who doesn't want to get loans should not attend, unless a parent is able to afford it. The tuition cost grows every year and it's hard to keep up.

Marco

People who are lazy

Suzanna

Anyone who is an individual or who is more "unique" than their peers. Do not attend this school if you dress differently than the average person at your high school, and especially not if you are liberal. Also, don't attend this school if you are planning on starting with no friends because you will never make any on your own.

Samantha

people who want to go to school to party. Marquette is very hard, you will spend from the time you get out of class until the time you go to bed studying. unless you are a BS major (like marketing and communications), but they are frowned upon by other students

I think Marquette can be a great fit for anyone. If you want a school that provides a good education and encourages community and service, Marquette is great. It also encourages you to interact with other students and not just stay confined to yourself.

The type of person who shouldn't attend this school is someone who is uncomfortable with religion (three theology classes are required for graduation regardless of major). Someone who enjoys football season (MU does not have a football team). Someone who has dreamed of belonging to and participating in greek life (I believe under 10{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of students are involved in frats/sororities, and they are all service or academic based).

Shauna

The type of person that shouldn't attend Marquette is somebody who wants to party. There are parties on campus and ways to drink, but Marquette isn't a party school and the on campus drinking rules are strictly enforced. Somebody expecting to just put in minimal effort during college should also not attend Marquette University because they will not be a successful student. Additionally the student should not be shy because it may be difficult to make friends if you're not involved on campus.
