What's unique about your campus?

Campus is small, everything is within 10 minutes walking, usually less. The dorms are really nice, and you make so many friends living there. I think its just a great school as well. Recreational activities are great, with a top notch fitness center.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Classes are hard to get, a lot are not offered at all, some are only offered every few semesters. Advisors are a joke, you know more about your classes that you havent taken than they do, which is moronic if you think about it. Some professors are just impossible to please and also some think that their class is the only one youve got so they really pile on the work, and dont care to give you a bad grade.

Go visit! And after the guided tour, explore on your own....they tend to show you only what you "want" to see. Or, if your child already knows a student at that university, ask if you can talk to them to ask them your own questions.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Everyone packs up and leaves on the weekends. Almost all students are commuters or from the surrounding areas. Therefore, the only activities available on the weekend include drinking.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Make a list of the factors that are most important to you. At first, go crazy, look at schools wherever and whatever the cost. Find your dream school. If you can't afford your dream school, which most of us can't, look into scholarships, and if that's still not enough, find your dream school on a budget. Look for schools that have similar programs, atmospheres, types of people, classes sizes, etc. Don't forget to think about what kind of atmosphere you will be most comfortable in and what kind of people you enjoy being around. College really is one of the greatest times of your life, at least from what I can tell so far, and you will make some of the best friends you'll ever have. To get the most out of your experience, I recommend trying as many new things as possible. Take a scuba diving or yoga class, join a kayaking club, take a course on the religious traditions of the Americas. There are so many things to explore and discover, but they will only be beneficial if you take advantage of them. Never be afraid to try something on your own.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing about Marshall is probably that the various campus offices do not seem to have very good interoffice communications. Often you'll go talk to the Bursar about something and get one answer and go talk to the Registrar and get a different answer. There's a lot of running back and forth involved to find out what you need to know.

What kind of person should not attend this school?

People who prefer to be a number in a large class should not attend Marshall. People who want to have a really good football team should not attend. Racists should not attend.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would advise students to take initiative about the decisions that will impact their future. Your parents should not do all the work. Research schools using the many resources available and narrow your selection based on the best fit for your personality and goals. Take the application process seriously and again use resources available to assist in the process and with the essays. To make the most of your college experience, get involved! Keep an open mind, don't be afraid to ask questions, network, study hard and make good decisions. Embrace the new friendships and the opportunities to create lifelong memories. College is but one phase of your life, live it to the fullest and you will reap the rewards.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

It offers a lot of community activities as well as on campus activities. The classes are relatively large, but the professors always make it known that they are available when we need them.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Look at all of the choices you have put in front of you, and try to visit most of them. Once you visit them, make a list and try to put them in order of the best to the worst. Remember, you are the one going to the school, so you should be the one to make the main decision. Make the choice based on how you felt when you went the campus and if you were comfortable or not. You will be attending that university for 4 years, so you want to make sure that it is the right one for you!

What's unique about your campus?

The location. It is convient with a lot of stores, the mall, banks, parks, river, restaurants, etc. It is also convient for those students that want to stay at home because it isn't a far drive from the other cities around it.
