What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

There are so many different college experiences out there. I think that high schools and people get so involved in finding a good and affordable school they sometimes don't pay enough attention to what kind of school would the student do best in? Not what kind of school will I fit in at? What kind of schol will I have fun at? Because at the end of the day you pay a lot for your degree and the good times you have at school won't matter when you're still on the job hunt a year after graduation, so find a school that offers programs you think you can excel in, schools with a big networking system, etc.

Let your child decide where they think they'd fit in best. The name of the school is not as important as you think it is, the quality of education and the selection of professors available is what you should consider the most important as part of a quality education.

Make sure that you visit schools. Some may look wonderful in brochures and online but you really don't get the feel of a school until you walk its hallways, eat its food, or sit in on it's classes. And don't settle. Keep looking until you find a school that is the perfect fit.
