Overall Marywood is an excellent school. Especially when it comes to their academics. Before I attended Marywood I was told that this was the best school to further my education. They provide great programs and opportunities for each major they offer. I am a freshman graphic design student and I love everything about my major. All of the professors are so helpful and supportive. Even the faculty here make things easier, my transition from high school to college was more than natural due to them. The only thing I find troublesome is the dorms. Nothing major is an issue but when it comes to the dorms I wish they were more up to date that's all, the dorms are a little "stuck in the past".

Victoria

Some good years with ups and downs but overall a good experience.

Samantha

I have enjoyed my overall experience at Marywood. The community on campus is very tight-knit, but even more welcoming. I believe this is due in part to small class sizes, so you get to know staff and students on a more personal level. All students here are very active in their academics, but enjoy taking time to do activities outside the classroom as well. The campus is also very beautiful. I like how Marywood offers 5-year Master programs. The food is not the best, but considering it is cafeteria food cooked in bulk, it is really not that bad. However, I wish there was more things to do walking distance from campus.

Lois

I think that Marywood University is the perfect school for someone who wants an intimate college experience that has an average class size of around 30 and is a tight-knit community. It is a beautiful campus that is magical when it snows and the farthest walk is maybe fifteen minutes, however there is a pretty steep hill.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I have gotten a lot out of my college experience. I am an Elementary and Special Education major and Marywood has a very good education program. The first semester here they give you a class that introduces you to your field experience. Field experience actually gets you out there into schools to observe before you do student teaching. This is very helpful because you a lot of experience in the major so you definitely know if it?s truly what you want to do for the rest of your life. I can?t speak for the rest of the majors but I know that the program I am in here is truly amazing and teaches many useful things for my future.

  3. What's unique about your campus?

The professors are, for the most part, very accomodating. I knew that if I needed help with my work or a class, that the professor would be there to speak with me about my troubles. This eased my mind on many an occassion, since I was a transfer student and knew nothing about the university other than what I had heard. After speaking with the professors themselves, I realized that they would not ignore me, and would answer my questions, ease my fears, and aid me in ceasing my worrying.

  10. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

The fact that most education students WILL not graduate on time. This is extremely important information that never surfaced until it was too late. I have an extra year to do and no financial aid because after 4 years (I'm starting my 4th now) they cut my scholarship. The Art Education department is not organized at all because both the education department and the art department don't seem to communicate with each other, making any kind of plan to graduate VERY hard.

When talking about Marywood, there are a few things that I brag about. One thing that is really good at Marywood is the very nice and helpful faculty and administrators. Another thing I brag about is how the class size is very small so you get more individualized attention than you may at other universities. And finally, I brag about how beautiful the campus is.

  13. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

I would have to say that the most fustrating thing is our lack of a football team. Even though we have many other sports teams, I believe football brings the campus together. It allows us to be one even if you do not like the sport. If we had a football team, it would allows us to have a better bond and thats what I think is important during college.
