Mayville State University Top Questions

One of the most frustrating things about Mayville State is the Science classes. Some courses are only offered every other semester or every other year, so it makes it challenging to get all of the necessary requirements for my major and minor. Besides that, the only other downfall to Mayville State is the cold winters, but that comes with being in North Dakota! :)

I don't find anything too frustrating about my school. At the moment, I take all of my classes online. It is more convenient for me to do so that way. I guess one thing I find a little frustrating is some teachers not responding to my emails in a timely manner when I have questions. I usually expect an answer within 24 hours and sometimes it is longer than that.

I think that the most frustrating thing about Mayville State is that you may have small classes but you may not be able to find the help from a teacher if you do not understand something if you are not loud and open in class. If they believe you are not trying because you are quiet they may not be willing to help. You must be loud and active in class in order to receive help.

I am attending Mayville State University online, so to me the most frustrating this is probably the fact that I do not receive scholarships to help me pay for school. Distance and online learning cannot receive scholarships through the school for the program, so I was unprepared for my summer classes. According to my FASA, it says my family will pay so much for school, but I am paying for it alone. So having scholarships is very helpful. Other than that it is an excellent program!

The most frustrating thing at Mayville is the limited variety of classes offered. Some classes are only offered in the spring and some in the fall, which can be inconvenient.

When I first arrived in Mayvile Iwas very consider about the small town atmosphere. You have to travel at least a half an hour to the nearest big city and that can sometime be very frustrating. As time goes on I got used to it and now the distance does not bother me near as much.

Many people at our school find the size of the town very frustrating. Mayville is a town of about 2,500 people and the only thing open past 11:00 pm is one of the gas station convenience stores (open 24/7). There are also almost no shopping opportunities for things such as clothes. However, you can pick up anything you really need in town and it's only a 40 minute drive to the nearest town with a mall. The school's size can also be frustrating. Most core classes only have one time & professor option.

It is located in a small town and everything except the gas station closes by eight at night.
