McDaniel College Top Questions

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

That alone with studying, not staying out too late, and getting your assignments in on time, checking your student email is KEY to success... McDaniel sends out campus-wide announcements every day and it's really important to read those and stay up to date on what's going on. I found that when I started checking that email account on a regular basis, I had suchhh a better understanding of what was happening on campus. It was awesome!

There is nothing bad that comes to mind when asked this question, only positives. It's known that the professors at the smaller schools are more student oriented, but you never really know to what extent until you are there. I've had older friends that went off to college and complained that their professors don't really care about their students. Not the case at McDaniel. I just wish I knew how much they would care before I went into school so I wasn't so surprised when they cared so much.

I originally received my Associates Degree at Frederick Community College and then I transferd to McDaniel College to pursure my Bachelors Degree. As I was a transfer student, I was unable to complete the extended psychology program where I would continue going to school for another year, but would receive my Masters Degree. If I had known this, I probably would have went to McDaniel from the beginning, and saved myself two years of going to graduate school.

Before I went away to school I wish I fully comprehended the difference between high school and college. High school was easy for me, so I assumed college would be the same. After experiencing a tough first semester at college, I found that it was not as easy as I had expected. If I worked to my full potential first semester, I know I would have been more successful.
