Some of the best parts of the social scene here on campus is that everyone does the same thing, so you see everyone wherever you go! It's fun and you can meet up with your friends and can hang out with multiple people. There is always something to do! The worst parts of the social scene is that a lot of it is based on drinking, which can be great for college students, but some students really hate that. But no need to fear! We offer plenty of activities on campus where you don't have to drink at all!!
The best part of the social scene is simply Uptown. There's a vast array of restaurants that can suit anyones personal taste (sushi, Mexican, all of that good stuff) along with a movie theater and cute little shops (not to mention my personal favorite--You're Fired because, c'mon, who doesn't like painting pottery?) Unfortunately, depending on your own person views, drinking can be a pretty big issue. I'm not speaking for everyone but I've definitely seen a huge influx of drinking--especially underage drinking. That would have to be one of the worst parts of the social scene--the drinking scene (especially around Green Beer Day). If that's something that a student is uncomfortable with, it's not difficult to avoid it. It's all a matter of personal beliefs in regards to drinking, but I would consider that one of the negatives.
The best part would have to be how many people go Uptown on the weekends. Nothing sucks more than to plan on releasing a little steam after a week full of classes and finding that all of the bars and clubs are dead. There are always a good amount of people out, even if they are just at the restaurants. The worst part is new. I noticed that the last few times i have gone out there have been a group of guys who seem to have taken The Jersey Shore to heart. But seriously, most of the people are laid back and just out to have a good time. Its a very relaxing scene. Plus, all of the social destinations are on High street so everything is really easy to get to.
