Go Green!! Random Facts about MSU: We send students to every continent in the world with study abroad programs (yes, including Antarctica). MSU houses the two cyclotrons which allows us to identify new isotopes of elements all the time. The Beaumont Tower houses one of a handful of carillons in the country. Sparty is the second largest ceramic statue in the world (the real one that now sits in the stadium). MSU's football stadium is the loudest college stadium in the country.

First semester I did really well, but I effed things up second. Just make sure you are getting your crap done when you have time so you don't save it all til the last minute. I always tried to get my crap done so I could have a blast on the weekends and not worry about anything. Oh, and make friends. Even if you're shy, you probably will.

Michael

Nope.

Alex

If there's one thing that you should do if you come to MSU, it would be to join a club.

Andy

Basically Michigan State University is the B-E-S-T university out there. The unity of all the students is #1 the friends you will meet are #1 and the beauty of the campus along with the academic aspects and preparing you for the real world are #1 as well. College is truly the best time of your life. I know it's important to take your classes seriously and do well-- but like I said before, build up your time management skills. Study in the morning, during the week and have fun and go out and meet people at night. Do as many things as you can to be a part of the MSU family. Be a part of the IZZONE! (camping out for it with friends is a BLAST), go to the football games and learn the special chants that we love yelling, even though other more conservative people may not) "FIRST DOWN B*&@#!!", just fall in love with everything I've just described and learn what it means to be a Spartan !!

Jordan

I really love this school and hope what I said helped.

Andy

GO GREEN!

I am bias. I am probably venting because I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life 4 years ago and I still don't care now. Without knowing what you want to do it's hard to find a clique of dedicated people to hang out with. Since I was mission-less I fell into groups that I didn't understand. I cared about the world around me and what it all meant while everyone else would just mock the topic if I tried to open a real conversation up. I think my real advice is "It doesn't matter what school you go to if you know what you want to do. If you are lucky enough to have a "passion to be" then you can achieve it." That passion is what I lack and surrounding myself with this school only made me feel worse about it.

The MSU Nursing program has a reputation of being unpredictable and even discriminatory. I am still surprised that I was rejected from entering their programs, even though my pre-requisite coursework GPA is 3.5 and I have a recent M.B.A. with a 4.0 GPA. MSU staff was not honest with me when I discussed program requirements before I began taking nursing pre-req's. My MSU alumni husband has been a longtime generous donor, and was so disappointed in MSU's treatment of me that he ended his donations. It seems like MSU values football/sports instead of ensuring quality academic program management (at least in the Nursing program). I'm attending LCC's Nursing program and will obtain my BSN from UofM-Flint. It still doesn't make sense to me that I'm going to UofM and not MSU.

Nicholas

The decision to go to MSU was one of the best decisions I've made in my life.

Steve

I think you get the picture

Jamie

you hear a lot of "oh man i got so fucked up last night" and not much else. people lack personality

Ryan

MSU is a great school. I am excited to return in the fall again. If your not sure about MSU, you have to at least visit and I'm sure youll get rid of any doubts. My advice is to stay with a student or friend b/c the campus tours only show you the good things and they don't talk about a lot of importiant things that youll want to know. MSU is a great school academically and socially. You'll never get lonely and you'll never get bored.

Robin

For the most part, I had a wonderful experince at MSU, but I learned a lot about universities in general outside of the classroom. For the most part (with the exception of a very small percentage) the schools main interest is making money. But its what you make out of your educaion that really matters.

Ryan

college is what you make it, make the right choice and attend MSU

justine

Great quiet places to study away from the dorms are the union study lounges and the upper floors in the main library. Make sure to seek out these places early in the academic year.

Kelly

Anything that you find for free, take it.

aleta

Awesome community, great place to experience your college years. It is so true that these are the best years of your life.

Denise

MSU is a really great campus. I don't just feel like a number, I actually feel like I belong there. Of course there are people to watch out for but where isn't there? Just don't walk alone at night and you should be fine!

Alex

not sure

GO GREEN!!

If you were the really cool kid in high school - study your ass off freshman year... you don't want to flunk out before you start (and I know a lot who did). If you were a nerd in high school (like I was), talk to tons of people the first week! You will seriously regret it for 4 years if you don't! Not only that, but relax in classes, its easier to learn that way. Overall, I recommend MSU - its a great place to meet people and have an awesome crazy time in your college years.

katie

Michigan state is a kick ass school. Never once will you get bored, unless you're boring. There is always something to do and new people to meet as well. I couldnt imagine going to any other school but Michigan State University

emily

nope. don't go to this school if you're an art student.

Becky

I love Michigan State University.

TJ

On campus living is expensive.....but you get hooked up pretty good. MSU has a great online website with all of your student info which is really helpful. Also, ANGEL, which is like the old BlackBoard....and really useful. Most teachers use it and it's a great way to know how you are doing in the class, get in touch with your class mates, and reach your assingments or class syllabus if you lost it. Love that! Lots of on campus jobs if you need one. Very flexible with your schedule.

May

If you don't do anything else at MSU, do this...STUDY ABROAD! MSU has such great programs. It is a great way to meet people, from MSU and around the world. Where ever you go, it will be the trip of a lifetime and it looks great an any resume!

Amanda

Good people, great school, parking is terrible, Go Green, Go White!

Benjamin

I really think no matter where you go to school, you need to visit first during regular classes to get a feel for the atmosphere. MSU was originally my backup school. I initially wanted to go somewhere else, but when I first visited campus I knew it was the best place, and the other school vanished out of my mind.

Mike

Michigan state is the best experience i have had thus far. Love everything abou it.

Rachel

MSU is amazing. I would not change my experience here for anything.

Casey

My major wasn't one of the options on the beginning ...I don't really care, but if you want ot add it it's Packaging. I LOVE MSU AND EVERYTHING ABOUT IT!

Michael

Go green! Go white!

Dennis

I could write a book on MSU. Just visit the campus...school in session or not, you will be amazed.

Tara

I am a third generation Spartan and I LOVE MSU!!!!! It is a great school with great traditions and I have had so many great memories attending MSU. GO GREEN! GO WHITE!

brenlo

Don't worry about Orientation (AOP). It's not as big a deal as they crack it up to be. Basically, it was the most awkward experience of my life, but I don't remember any of the people I met there and I'm not still friends with any of them. They focus too much on the "lifelong friendships" they think you'll make than getting acquainted with the campus. The campus can be daunting at first, so don't be afraid to carry a map around with you, and don't feel like a dork when you look at it. Also, don't be afraid to ask people where things are (I LOVE giving people directions), most will be friendly and point you in the right direction...they've all been there.

Sarah

I'm very proud to say that I go to MSU and I will be very sad to leave and become a grown up, although, I'm very prepared.

Chrissy

The dorms were really expensive.

Renee

Yes Cedar Fest 2008 was on CNN news a few months ago which gives MSU a bad rep. But on the other hand, MSU had the number 1 school for Supply Chain Management and number 1 for the school of packaging. Great education program as well as an engineering program. MSU students are very well rounded individuals that will have a sucessful career after graduation Great school!

Charlie

covered.

Ashley

I just encourage everyone to join at least one club or team while they are at MSU, you make a lot of new friends and do a lot of cool things, and have a great time.

I love this school. It will always be a part of me. I'll miss these times for the rest of my life. Don't get too consumed in school. Play as hard as you work. You'll regret not balancing the two out. In the end, you can retake a class but you can't relive memories. Think about that. What will truly make you happy? Honestly, there is something at this school for everyone. You just have to figure out what fits best for you.

Ashley

Go Green! Go White!

Sami

MSU is an excellent university to attend, because it has everything a student could want or need!

Matt

The best thing to do is check it out yourself, i was accepted everywhere i applied (including UofM) and based on my visit i knew east lansing and MSU was right for me.

Erin

GO TO MSU!!! SPARTY on... cheesy but true.

Daryl

MSU was my first choice for universities and now that I've graduated I am SO glad that I chose this university. I am SO proud to be a Spartan!!
