What is your overall opinion of this school?

Denise

MSU is a huge campus! However, it is really nice. There are lots of places to go and relax and just be by yourself for a while if that is what you want. Campus is like a town in itself. If you prefer the quiet outdoors or the active city lifestyle you'll be happy! MSU is a place for people of any lifestyle!

Alex

Michigan State is amazing. We have a beautiful campus (more beautiful than any college campus I've ever visited). There's people here for everyone too. With over 45,000 students in E. Lansing, you can find ALL different types of people here to become friends with. People here, staff included, are generally friendly and accepting of different beliefs and lifestyles. We are definitely a college town, with tons of fun things to do throughout the Lansing area. As a Big Ten school, athletics are HUGE at MSU. We love our Spartans and wear our pride on our sleeves. Football seasons are insane here, and there's no greater place to be when our mens' basketball team makes it deep into the NCAA tournament (which is expected around here). I'm especially proud of MSU's initiative to become green on campus, or, as we Spartans like to call it, (Spartan) Green. We have several earth-friendly organizations for students, and have talked the talk by gradually switching to sustainable energy practices.

Nico

since it is such a large campus and student body, there are so many opportunities to meet new people. the campus itself is extremely beautiful and scenic during all seasons. the parking regulated really sucks, tickets are not cheap and dpps is not understanding.

Dave

MSU is awesome. You have to enjoy a big campus though. Going to class can take 45 minutes if you are walking, but there is a bus here, and you get used to it within a couple weeks as a freshman. There are a million things to do here, but socialize is the first thing you should do. In freshman dorms, everyone is really nice. Everyone is meeting new people so you should too. If you don't meet people right away, then you might feel awkward trying to make friends later. Expect to party a lot on the weekends, but make sure not to get into trouble. Just because a lot of people do it, doesn't mean that you can't get in trouble for it. I did a lot of things as a freshman that were really dangerous, but fortunately didn't get caught. Anyway, just be super careful when doing things you "shouldn't" ;)

Jody

One of the unusual things about MSU that is great is how large and spread out the campus is. It allows for a lot of walking around and exploring.

Shannon

The best thing about MSU is that it is the perfect size for me. East Lansing has everything you need, from malls, restaurants in all price ranges, bars, and small shopping centers. Nothing is too far to travel to and almost all is found right on Grand River Ave!

katie

At first glance it might look like the biggest school in the country. Well thats because it is... one of them. After you get set in, you feel at home. The best thing at MSU is the ability to meet people. You can pretty much meet a new person everyday you stay here at state, and everyone is really friendly! At Michigan state it's great because it's right in town. There isn't a day you can be bored. If you feel like being in the city, take the number one bus downtown. If you feel like being in the country, take a walk to the back part of campus and visit the cows. Getting through to someone in administration is kind of tough... sometimes you'll wonder how some people even got their job. Say for example you have a question on transfering credits, or trying to take a summer class at a different school. It's like they read you something off the internet that you could find yourself, like you wasted three hours in the waiting room to get an answer you already knew. All in all... even though sometimes its tough to communicate to someone above you in the school. All the teachers are really nice and are willing to help you at no matter what cost. School pride, it's a big thing here... from football to basetball. Football season get's pretty intense, not just because I'm in marching band but because tail gating itself, people will get here at 6am to set up, when the game doesnt even start till 4pm. Basketball... if you're in the student section it gets really intense. We actually take up practically the whole entire lower bowl (which is something that most schools frown upon because they could be getting more money from regular fans, but no, you can get the opportunity to sit right on the side line with Tom Izzo himself), AND we talke up about half of the upper bowl that no one ever sees on tv. The only word to describe MSU is INTENSE! S

I'd say MSU is too large, for my taste anyways. You're just a number to the faculty. Usually advisers are so overbooked, that when you get a meeting with you it goes so fast you don't even remember what you talked about. I think that MSU is a place that I dont fit in. most people go there because it looks good on a resume, which is interesting because I don't remember the last useful class I had. They have a horrible arts program and make you take pointless classes that have absolutely nothing to do with your major. Cedar Fest 2008 was absolutley ridiculous and I am ashamed to say I was once a student on this campus. I am transfering schools because of these reasons.

Kristen

I love our campus, it's gorgeous. I enjoy most of my professors (with some exceptions, obviously.) I don't feel like the campus is a dangerous place. The dorms are-- well dorms. There are parties, you can choose to go or not. I love the shops on Grand River. You can take the CATA bus to Meridian Mall, it's not that bad. People, in general, don't really bother you.

Andy

Being a Spartan is the best. Most people who attend MSU bleed green, and have tremendous school pride. Even the old guy at the Hall of Fame (spartan themed sports bar) shouts at the tv in the NCAA basketball tourney as he boasts his leather MSU jacket. There's nothing quite like athletics at a Big Ten school. Very exciting! Our Sparty mascot is also second to none. He can definitely get a crowd on their feet! The campus itself is gorgeous, one of the reasons I chose MSU. It's sometimes a pain in the butt having to bust across campus running in the 20 minutes you have in between classes just to make it on time, but otherwise, the campus is perfect. Although it's a huge school, I find it just the right size! GO STATE!

Becky

Huge, I wouldn't change it per say, but if you come here than you are for sure going to make friends, once you get into your direct major the classes are smaller but even the campus and venues around it are hoppin all the time. Michigan State is known all around the world. I used to live in the Carolina's and even when I worked with Red Cross in Louisiana people were familiar with MSU and some had even graduated. I work in a bar and restaurant so I am always there, we have a night club in our basement so its right close to the main strip of our 'hang out' street, grand river. For sure a college town I sometimes feel bad for the residential families during events like welcome week, but they chose to live in a college town. So much school pride. Cant really think of a recent controversy. This school is amazing, l can honestly say that I would pay to go here before I took a full ride anywhere else.

Alex

There are quite a few things good and bad about Michigan State. For one, when i tell people that i go there they give me a look like "oh, so you like to party a lot", or they assume that i am an experienced drinker. A good thing about Michigan State is that it is a big research university, and i do feel good about being a part of that. I am a Zoology major, and i like being a part of such a good Zoology program. Academically, i really like michigan state. Although, the grading system is a little screwy. You can only get a final grade in 0.5 increments, so if you are two points below getting a 4.0 you get a 3.5 rather than a 3.9, and that has really given me a lot of trouble. It is a really big university, and a lot is done to try to make students feel like they are a part of it, but i really feel like I am not important to the university when i am there. Everything feels superficial to me.

TJ

MSU is a great college. I am very happy that I chose to get my degrees from MSU. I am very involed at MSU and that is why I have been successful. Although sometimes you can feel like just a number (because there are currently over 45,000 students) the groups one can form within work, or academics is really unbelievable. If you are looking for a place to take advantage of your education, meet great people, and find a group or two that fits you perfect, then MSU could be right for you.

May

MSU is a place where everyone can fit in, because of how diverse it is. It's a great place to find yourself!

Amanda

This is a BIG school, I am from a small city and my family was not sure how I'd like it. I loved it! It was easy to fit in and make friends. Downtown East Lansing is very accessible and there are a lot of fun places to go eat and watch the game or go shopping. The campus is beautiful all year round, great for playing frisbee or going for a run. I highly reccommend football season tickets, those first games make great memories. I am proud to say I attended MSU.

Benjamin

Best thing about MSU - Beautiful campus, with lots of gardens, trees, and fountains. One thing to change - On-campus housing is way too expensive for what it's worth. Size of school - About right, but a little on the large side. How people react - "That's a really well-respected school" or "That's a really big school!" Spend most time - Studying in my room or going on walks College town - East Lansing would not exist without MSU. Bars, restaurants, shops galore. Opinion on administration - Waste money on useless programs, raise tuition to cover costs. Controversy - Cedarfest riots in April. Over 1000 students rioted and got on the nat'l news. Pride - Unbelievable school pride. Football and basketball are more important than life itself. Unusual - MSU was the first land-grant college fully funded by the government to start up. Experience - Cedarfest riots were right outside my dorm. I watched people get teargassed. Complaints - Housing too expensive, busses too expensive, price-gouging at the bookstore.

Adrienne

The best thing about MSU is the social aspect. I have met some of the best people ever going to MSU and there is always something to do whether its just taking a walk down Grand River or hanging out with your friends in the dorms. I love that the school is big. If you don't want to see someone you really don't have to. I hear about people going to really small schools where everyone knows everyones business. I'm glad that i don't go to a school like that. I think East Lansing is a really good college town there are a ton of great places to eat and things to do around town. It's a really good atmosphere for a university. The biggest controversy is probably Ceder Fest which was the party that turned into a riot and ended with tear gas. It was a little annoying after it was still a front page story in the State News over 2 weeks after it had happend. MSU probably has the best school pride ever. No matter where you go if someone shouts "GO GREEN" chances are someone will respond back with "GO WHITE" I wouldn't want to go anywhere else but MSU. It has become not just a school over the past 2 years I've gone there but it is definitely my home.

Mike

The campus is beautiful. This was one of my pros for this school. I love how green it is and even in the winter the snow makes it even better. The big picture is that Michigan State has anything and everything you will ever need and you will be truly amazed at how wonderful this experience will be for you.

Rachel

The best thing about MSU is the huge, BEAUTIFUL campus. With over 40,000 students, I think that MSU could definitely be too large of a school for some people, but I love it. When I tell anyone I go to MSU, they know the school. I love that- everyone knows that we are the Spartans, that we're located in East Lansing, etc. There are tons of places to study, hang out, lots of school sponsored activities. It's definitely a college town- the City of East Lansing's population is smaller than our student body. There's always something to do in E.L., and our state's capital is right down the road in Lansing. There is a HUGE amount of school pride. When I travel to other cities/states/even COUNTRIES, people will comment if I'm wearing MSU clothing and say "go green".

Tate

MSU is an excellent teaching university, which is trying to reinvent itself as a half-assed research university. I feel because of this, the actual educational value of what's being taught is begining to suffer for undergrads, but will be improving for grad students in the future. I like the interesting people I meet, and since it's such a big campus, you have the opportunity to meet a lot of them. The campus itself is one of the most beautiful I've seen, so if you like wildlife and natural settings, you'll love it for that. The reputation for students really depends on what department you're in (if you're in a good one, a MSU degree is respectable). East Lansing is a really good hangout as well, and borders campus so it isn't too bad of a trek. The administration as a whole has the same faults of any other, being uncommunicative, bloated, and autocratic, but there are certainly universities where this is far worse. For the most part, MSU is an average state college that excels mostly in the departments where the best degrees are to be had.

Crystal

The best thing about MSU is that it is so big and there are some many people that you meet a new person from a different background like everyday. The size is perfect if your into being on a large campus. Speaking of the campus, it is definitely the most beautiful campus ever. It is covered in trees, flowers and has a river that runs through it. Most of my time I spend on campus is probably in one of the classrooms but sitting underneath one of the trees by the river is also a great place. East Lansing is absolutely a College Town. MSU wouldn't be what it is without East Lansing or vice versus. The city and the school work together to make life in East Lansing wonderful. The biggest controversy over the past year was the so called riot in April but things have calmed down since then. Is there school pride at MSU? Well that is just a bit of an understatement. We Spartans are hardcore about everything MSU we try to be the best at everything we do whether its sports, academics or just being the best fans in the country. Green and white bleeds from us. One memory that I'll never forget was during the 2006 Football season. We were playing Notre Dame, who one of our biggest rivals. We were killing them in what seemed like the storm of the century. The wind was howling, rain was blasting the entire stadium but we are too hardcore fans to leave. We were even shouting to the storm "Is this all you got?". Even though we ended up losing the game in the last few minutes its the memory of all us students banding together as one in the worse storm that is then best part.

Erin

I have found that a lot of campuses are sprawled through out the neighboring city such as the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. But Michigan State is different. It's really cool because MSU is like a mini city full of people your age and always tons to do. It's very big and would take about an hour to walk from the west side of campus to the east side. Although this may sound kind of daunting, once you get used to it and begin to learn where everything is at it is really a great feeling, king of like it's your city and your campus. Although it may sound weird I sometimes love feeling anonymous walking through campus. I feel anonymous because although you will see people you know, you rarely see the same person twice in one day. It is a large contrast from my high school where everyone knew everyone else and everyone else's business. But at MSU the anonymity allows me to not worry about being myself and not worry so much about what other people think. It's really nice. Although I have had a few professors that I have no liked or did not agree with the majority of professors and faculty that I have interacted with have been more than helpful and very nice. Yet I still check allmsu.com and see how other students have rated professors before I schedule my future classes. It is a very helpful site and comes in very handy so that even if you can't get out of a class you will at least be prepared.

Casey

MSU is huge! When you walk to class you pass hundreds of students, and even up until Senior year, it is rare to see someone you know..no matter how many friends you have. You have to be willing to have a long walk to class, and trek through the snow when all you want to do is lay in bed. Campus is beautiful, and it is so nice to be able to go sit by the red cedar between classes, or just for fun. I love the student body..everyone that goes to MSU is in love with their school and it makes being there so much fun. East Lansing is great..I love how campus is set up, and the student housing is right across grandriver with tons to do in between. The first day that its warm out in the spring is my favorite time of every year..everyone is outside on their porch and everyone is so happy and excited that it's finally getting warm. The only thing that sucks is that it means the semester is almost over.

Michael

MSU has a lot to offer. A great campus (you will definitely get used to the size quick), amazing professors, amazing classes and advisors, great opportunities, an awesome social aspect, and it is full of surprises.

Dennis

MSU is huge...There is so much to do here and it takes up almost literally the entire city of East Lansing. Whatever you are into...It's definitely here. I couldn't really pick the best thing about MSU. The campus is gorgeous, the population is the most diverse I've ever seen and the opportunities for work, study abroad, extracurricular activities, and most importantly education are just endless. Between the Izzone and the newly united student section in football, school pride is through the roof. The only complaint Ive ever heard is the campus is enormous and slightly confusing to drive around.

jeff

Best thing about MSU is that scenery and location. It is away from everything just in the middle of the state even though its by the capitol. Campus seems like a good size but things can be changed such as the setup of how buildings are located, how living space works, little things but nothing crucial. Most of my time is spent around central campus because i lived there and if i left my room, most of my friends lived around there, and the inter mural building is fairly close as well. There is school pride of course because we all chose to come here right? so i think everyone should have it, but just not let it effect you if you see people from "rival schools" etc. I'll always remember orientation when i didn't know almost anyone coming in, and i had to force myself to meet new people, and to open up. I saw a lot of people who knew each other from high school and they stayed in their cliques but soon they were going to have to meet new people too, so that was an experience that will always stay with me.

Kristen

I love the large size of MSU. Some may think of it as intimidating but you find your group and once you have a major you will surprisingly see the same people around campus. The actual campus is beautiful, and the students bleed green. I will always remember the football games, and how important and fun they were for everyone.

Amy

MSU is the best place in the world. Seriously. The campus is beautiful, the people are friendly, and there's always something to do. There's a million clubs and groups you could join and so getting involved isn't hard. The dorms are actually very nice, and the food is pretty good. MSU is a very large school, which I personally think is great. It gives me opportunities I would not have elsewhere. Plus, you can always make a large school seem smaller by getting involved, but you can never make a small school larger. I never go a day without seeing someone I know walking around so size isn't an issue. I guess the only complaint I would have is that it's cooold during the winter and sometimes classes are not close. A twenty minute bike ride at 8 in the morning with below zero temps is NOT fun. But the bus system is decent, so there's always that option.

Brad

While the campus is very large, you will not get lost after the first week. There are a ton of people here which just means there is a ton of friends to make and things to do. The pride to be a Spartan is thrilling (goes along with the pain of underachieving on a somewhat regular basis). I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Tara

MSU is a very large campus. East Lansing is a great college town, all kinds of great stores and restaurants are on Grand River on the north side of campus. The campus is very pretty with the older historic buildings on the north side, and the newer buildings south of the Red Cedar River. I have never had a problem with administration, and the enrollment for classes is easy and all done online. There is tons of Spartan Spirit, especially during football and basketball season, make sure to buy season tickets because the games are fun... but get to the games early because there is always a huge line to enter the stadium.

Laura

I love the size of MSU because there are so many opportunities. There are also smaller communities, but you choose yours instead of being stuck in one. You can be whoever you want and find people you like to hang out with. It is extremely diverse, including all religions, races, nationalities, etc. Almost everyone is extremely friendly on campus. There is more than enough to do, but it isn't so distracting that you can't get your work done. There is a lot of school pride. Anyone can be part of a sport if they want, not just varsity scholarship students. I traveled on the fencing team through my whole career at MSU, and I only learned as a freshman. The only complaint I really have is the rioting that has happened a few times since I've been here after some games, but I just try to avoid being in town on game days. That's easily done.

Elizabeth

MSU offers a lot of variety. Places to go, things to do, and classes to take. There are a lot of opportunities, however, because it's such a large place it's easy to get lost in the numbers. You need to be proactive about your college career and take control. A lot of people have gotten in trouble just listening to advisors, you need to double check what they tell you. The classes are large, if you don't go, know one cares. You need to introduce yourself to the professor and make it obvious that you are there to learn and are trying to succeed. My main complaint currently about MSU is the emphasis and money they place on football. Tutiton keeps going up and up, but we invest more and more into the stadium. Perhaps, if i could play football and go to college for free this wouldn't bother me..... Another issue is the city of East Lansing....they want your money, but they don't want you. They are constantly trying to cut down on the student housing and move everyone into large student housing groups in the Bath area (north of campus). The police care only about DUIs, disorderly's and underage drinking. It's sad that the city and student body are so against one another. It's almost the opposite of U of M, where Ann Arbor enjoys the students and they have a great city and relationship to show for it.

Carmen

The big picture is that it is an amazing place to go to school. If you love lots of new people and want to meet a diverse group of people this is the place for you. You can make your experience at MSU whatever you want it to be. If you are the type of person who wants to just get by and party through school, join a frat, thats excatly what you'll do. If you have goals and want to go somewhere in life, you can pick a real major and work hard, but have tons of things to do all the time in your free moments of life! There is always something to do in those free moments, and there are always people around who are willing to go have fun with you no matter what time of day/night!

Harper

Very well known school across the World.

brenlo

If you can't handle being an unnoticed face in the crowd, MSU is not the place for you. With 40,000 undergrads, this is not a small place. Your professors will not know you unless you make the attempt to get to know them. Personally, I like the size because there are enough people that you can go out and not run into someone you know, but you don't feel completely alone in the world (though if you don't make any friends, it might get very lonely). East Lansing is a nice place. Across Grand River from campus is a strip of stores which cater to the college lifestyle. Walking through town at night is not scary, but I've heard stories about people being attacked in dark corners of campus late at night (usually when they're drunk), so carry pepper-spray is not irrational.

Sabrina

I like that there's always something to do around campus, and it's usually free. There's always help all around campus with classes. My one complaint would have to be housing. Once you sign up for on campus housing, the only way you can get out is if you're married, pregnant, or have serious financial or health issues. I would definitely suggest moving off campus when you can. For one, the dorm food is just as bad as fast food; no matter how much you work out, you will still gain weight with the food (fries, pasta, and fried chicken everyday). Second, it will definitely save money. The meal plan alone is around $1300 a semester, and the average student in apartments spend around $600-700 a semester.

Kyle

I LOVE the "big campus" atmosphere. State is agreat place to meet new people and start fresh. The campus is beautiful by the way. I also love "web enroll," which gives you the opportunity to choose your schedule from the comfort of your home or dorm room. When I tell people to go to MSU, they tend to get excited because of our reputation for partying. East Lansing is definitely a college town. Unlike U of M, MSU MAKES East Lansing. At U of M, Ann Arbor MAKES the campus. I would probably change the dorms to be a bit bigger, but it's your freshman year and you don't need that much space to make it work. The dorm food should be better. The food at the International Center is GREAT! Classes have been pretty good. It ALL depends on the professor you have though; yes, a topic can be boring, but if you have a good fun professor, you'll do well. The biggest recent controversy was probably Cedar Fest, and the fact that students were tear-gassed. It's like that every time there's a Cedar Fest though. There is a LOT of school pride for State; I love being a Spartan. I'll always remember Greek Week because my team won in 2008!! Rushing a fraternity was a great experience. It's not for everyone, but it's very fun I think; it definitely helped my social life a ton.

Sarah

MSU takes up 80{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of East Lansing, MI. East Lansing is MSU and its a great city. Our school is very large and I wouldn't have it any other way. You're constantly learning about the school and its history even if you don't try to. There are so many students that you can potentially have future ties with, its great for networking after you graduate. If you go to MSU, you are proud of it! The one time of year that is the most fun is Football season. I will always come back for tailgating and rooting for the Spartans, the students and alumni do a great job at coming together and creating a great tailgate scene.

Chrissy

East Lansing is definitely a college town. It's almost like a ghost town if you stick around for the summer, but that just means great specials at local retailers and no traffic! With 40,000 students, it's on the large end of schools, but I never felt it to be overwhelming. Campus isn't too huge to walk around and there's not too much car traffic on campus at all, so that makes it seem smaller. The thing I liked most about MSU was that you could get involved in as little or as much as you want. Living on campus provides even more opportunities, and while I feel like I grew out of dorm life after two years, it was an amazing experience where I met some of my best friends and my fiance.

Renee

The best thing about MSU is the atmosphere. In the fall the trees are beautiful. In the spring its nice to see everyone smiling as they walk to class. The people at MSU are nice and friendly and always willing to help.

Charlie

MSU has a beautiful campus. Yes, it is a very large school, but there are many ways to make it smaller. Many people join sororities or fraternities. I, on the other hand, joined the lacrosse team. By doing this I have allowed myself to have somewhat of a family to go to if I need help. There are many other clubs and activities available to make MSU more than just school to a person. People are very friendly. I am just coming out of freshman year and I never once had an issue with someone being rude to me. If I was lost trying to find class, people were always willing to help. Our football team is not the best, but the games are a blast and a great social activity. Basketball and hockey are fun to go to as well. School pride is important, Spartans don't mess around.

Ashley

The campus can be overwhelmingly large at first, but after a couple weeks you discover shortcuts you can take to get to classes quicker and easier, making the campus seem so much smaller. I find its a 15 minute stroll to any class within a reasonable distance from my apartment. That walk can be peaceful if you take the river trail, watchin the river flow by and the ducks playing in it. The "downtown" area on Grand River is one part that I wished was bigger with more shops. Walking up and down that gets old after the first couple of times.. There is a ton of school pride everywhere you go. If you yell "GO GREEN!" you will be responded with a "GO WHITE" no matter where you are. People are proud to be Spartans, and the football games show it. My advice: buy football tickets. It will be your best investment at MSU, besides the education of course.

Allison

The best thing about MSU is the people that go here! Everyone is extremely friendly and always looking to meet new people. Everyone is very open to new people and cultures, and genuinely interested in learning about you and getting to know you. Some people may assume since MSU is a huge school with around 45,000 students enrolled, that it would be hard to meet and make new friends but that's not the case! There's a ton of school pride at MSU. Everyone loves it and is proud to be a Spartan!

Dan

MSU is a huge school, a city of its own. Most of the students are white and wealthy, and most of the majors are very easy. Therefore, it is a huge party school. It's easy to get lost in the party scene and put academics at the bottom of the priority list, especially considering the freedom of living on one's own for the first time in a party environment. Most students drink at least once or twice a weekend (which is Thursday-Sunday for MSU). The parties are great, they are very fun for most underclassmen and offer a good way to meet other students. I had a great time at MSU, but I definitely partied too much. The challenge for you may be to find a balance in the party life and the rest of life. School will occupy only a small fraction of your time in the dorms, so make sure to spend some of your spare time doing things that do not involve getting black-out drunk. I would strongly recommend getting active in at least one campus organization, there are plenty out there that will interest you. It's too easy to slip between the cracks and look back on the day of your graduation without remembering more than a handful of Friday and Saturday nights. Keep your drinking in check, this is a town of alcoholics. But since it is such a big school, there are plenty of ways to enjoy your time without getting shwasted.

Ang

Great Big 10 University. Very gorgeous campus to walk through outside. Very diverse university, well known for Study Abroad! People are very open-minded and friendly in general. Very fun but also well known in many academic areas.

Erin

Definitely a college town. TONS of school pride! I always felt happy walking around campus and feeling like I was a part of it. It's beautiful and always made me smile. You meet the best people here. There are a lot of different types of people, but for the most part everyone is friendly and outgoing. I thought it was just right in size. Even with 45,000 people on campus, you always see people you know. But you also always have new people to meet. It was never overwhelming. Any smaller probably would have been underwhelming and boring for me. I like options. These were, without a doubt, the best four years of my life. Choosing this school was the best decision I've made in my life so far. I don't spend any time at the library, but most people do. My time is mostly spent with friends at my place (dorm or apt.) or at theirs. A lot of time is also spent on Grand River, (getting food, etc). Classes can be far away, but you figure out quickly the best way to get to them. It also gives you a lot more to explore. The most recent controversy on campus was Cedar Fest. A bunch of kids rioted for no reason and half of them didn't even go to MSU. Everyone just wanted to be able to say they were a part of something and it was an embarassment to people that actually take pride in the institution. In 2005, students didn't do anything disorderly. In 2008 it was embarassing, but I'm glad to say it wasn't all MSU students. Try all the different cafeterias...there are a lot and they all have different things to offer. Lafayette Square in Brody Complex is one of my favorites. They serve pasta, breadsticks, salad, and great cookies. Just trust me, if you like pasta you'll love this.

MSU is all right! Some say that it's to big, but most students don't have class on the golf courses, farm land, or grazing pastures. It takes about 45 minutes to walk from one end of campus to the other, but the grounds are so beautiful you don't get a chance to think about it. The bus system is great, the CATA bus will basically take you anywhere, from one end of campus to the other, and off if you need to go. You can get to the mall, apartments off campus, whereever with as bus pass. There are plenty of places to study on campus, from the four floors in the main libaray, to the several smaller libaries for each college. Don't forget that the academic buildings have planty of space for studying too, there's always enough room to find your own secret study place. If you just need to get away, go off campus which is across tha street to Grand River. There's plenty to do from shopping, eating, and even some clubbing.

MSU, is a great university, one of the best, our huge amount of school pride, the great amount of diversity around campus, the multiple study abroad programs, the beautiful campus, and the wide range of courses and majors. MSU is a great university to attend. While attending MSU I have not just learned academic wise, but I have learned a great deal about myself and my opinions on various subjects. MSU is a place of not only learning, but of growth.

MSU pride is awesome! Every student turns into a spartan from the day they set foot here. The student body supports the sports teams through the the good times (basketball!) and the bad (football). When you're standing in the student section and everyone's cheering their loudest you can't help but be proud of being a part of something so huge. Speaking of huge, I was a little intimidated by MSU's size. Turns out I wouldn't have it any other way. You can always make a big institution smaller by getting involved with things you're interested in, but you can't make a small college bigger. MSU has everything and more to offer - there's even a coffee club here!
