What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I was able to go back and talk myself through my high school senior year. There definately are some things I would like to say to myself. One is to never give up on your dreams or yourself . It is a tough world out there but if you want something bad enough you can always find a way to make the dream a reality. If there is something that is holding you back or you just dont understand then start asking questions .,someone is liable to have the advice you need but you won't get that davice to follow those dreams if you aren't willing to ask about them. Like I said NEVER give up on yourself.

The first thing I would tell myself is to follow my dreams. Although, going to Findlay will be a hard transition for you, you will enjoy yourself and have opportunites you would never of had otherwise. Also, I would tell myself to start working on time management now so you will be able to do homework, have a social life, work, and get sleep while you are at college. Another thing I would tell myself is to start trying to find scholarships now. College is getting more expensive as time goes by and your family is going to experience a very hard time your third year of college. Work now to make it easier on you then. Also, go out and do stuff once you get to college. Join clubs, and sports. Spend time with people not only on your floor and don't be afraid to put yourself out there.

Were I able to communicate with the senior version of myself, I would have to tell myself that it isn't necessary to start off at at four-year university, especially if you aren't sure what you want to do with your life. I know that may sound silly, but when I was in high school, I believed that the only way I could ever get a job after college without an immaculate resume, with a 4.0 GPA, and the only listed education from a prestigious university. So I went to one. I learned soon that at this wonderful school with over 20,000 students, I really didn't matter to the administration or faculty. I was just a filled seat in a classroom. When I transferred to MMCC, that changed. I felt like my teachers cared that I was in the classroom, and that the men and women working to help me with classes, books, etc. actually were willing to see that I was a person, and try to help me succeed. By going to a smaller, community college, I have learned that where the degree comes from doesn't matter as much as the finished product.

Stepping in the time machine, a few initial thoughts arise. I wonder whether it would have been a better idea to save money each week for tuition rather than spend it on teenage luxuries. I questioned if it was a good idea to postpone sending my orientation application to Saginaw Valley State University on time, hoping to have more time for planning open houses. As the machine heats up and lights flash, I become more aware of the path I ended up taking along with the one I once wished I?d traveled. Feeling slightly dazed, I take a minute to catch myself. Realizing the accomplishments I?ve made and how much I have grown, I am unable to form regrets for the mistakes made. Changing any of the choices I made to have the luxuries I desired, would have halted my involvement with the wonderful people in Phi Theta Kappa and my community, or my chance to be so deeply inspired by my instructors. Not wanting to waste my trip to the past, I offer my past self two words of advice, ?just relax.? The path I was heading was just right, though I was unaware.

If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior I would tell me not to work so hard at work and to be more serious about school. I wwould infrom myself to start off at Mid-Michigan Community College because they will get you on track and at the other school you will take a bunch of unnecessary class. I would also tell myself to enjoy life more and not to take care of everybody elses children. I would also tell myself to stay living at home. Moving out and going to college is never a good choice if you have it as an option. The most important thing I would tell myself is enjoy life you only live once. So don't take anyones garbage and stand up for yourself.
