I love it. It's a small community college with smaller size classes. The teachers are available all the time and they're very attentive. Administration and counselors are always available and incredibly helpful. To get ahold of anyone, either you can go see them or email them. Everyone is very quick to respond. I love MSTC and I think most people do :)

Renee

It's a great school and I recommend it to other people that are looking to save money. Some programs are great but others could be better. The medical programs are fantastic but other programs (ex: Diesel Mechanic) could be better. Depending on the campus you go to, your food options are limited. Some have a cafeteria and others only have vending machines. Also, some programs (and classes) are only offered at a certain campus (ex: the CNA program is only offered at the Wisconsin Rapids campus).

Amber

I think its a great school. They offer many different classes and many ways to take therm. My teachers are very laid back and easy to reach if needed. Campus offers many different services for students. Class sizes are smaller so its easier to learn.

Mid-State Technical College is a small college in my hometown (Wisconsin Rapids). The school provides courses that are challenging and relevant to specific programs, and most courses provide great training and hands-on experiences. However, there are not many clubs or sports like the universities, so students are not as involved as compared to university students who have the opportunity. Food on campus is good but expensive, and there are no dorms because it is only a technical college. However, MSTC is affordable for most people and most people find employment soon after graduating.

Mid-State Technical College FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Mid-State Technical College?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Mid-State Technical College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would tell myself to take the time to figure out what I really want to do with my life. Just because everyone else is going to college doesn't mean I have to jump on the same train. If I want to take a year off from school and go out and work, then do it, but do continue my education down the road. Really do research on what type of school I want to attend- what they have to offer and their location. Take the time to visit the campuses and explore. Research majors and really take the time to determine what I can see myself doing 10 or 20 years from now. Just because most of my friends are going to a 4-year college doesn't mean I have to follow suit. Really take the time to consider what I want and what works best for me. Take the time to do it right!

  3. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Even though it's a technical college, I can't afford it and it's not getting any cheaper. It doesn't help when your instructors and counslers expect you to devote 100{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of your time to just school, but I can't not work, I have bills to pay and someone has to pay for their classes.

  4. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

It gives so many career options and possibilities for such a small school in a relatively rural area. A small comfortable area which is something I love.

  5. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I had known how bad the economy affects going to college, and I wish I would have known better to save every penny I made to contribute to my college education. Even the books are breaking the bank.

  6. What kind of person should not attend this school?

MSTC is a lot about hands on and small class sizes. If a person doesn't like to have a lot of attention on then they probably would not do well in the classes. A lot of the classes do hands on learning and group activities. If a person learns better through just reading or just listening they may have more difficulty in these classes. A person really has to be motivated and ready to be put out in the work force when then attend MSTC. Its not for someone who wants to take their time and prolong their schooling.

  7. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The ITV classes always seem to have something wrong where the students cannot get all the information they need. They seem to be a great idea to hold a joint class from multiple campuses, but there is some fine tuning that still needs to be done. The ITV class I am in currently we are unable to access the eCollege website we have to use for the class because the college we are working with did not send any information to our MSTC email and we are missing software that was suppose to come with our books.
