Due to the corona virus, most of the students were required to move to online learning. From my virtual experience, I have enjoyed my first semester here. Communication between students and professors seemed to run pretty smoothly, I always felt like I could go to my professors with my academic needs.
I really enjoyed going to Midland College, but felt that as a Freshman I slipped through the cracks of being involved in college life - I went to class, work, and my dorm, with no one bothering to reach out or bring attention to clubs or other things I may have been interested in. The dorm was what really drew me into going to school there - large living space, and en suite bathroom.
Midland College has great facilities and the professors that I have met so far are very helpful. Most are willing to help if you put in the effort. Their food seems to have good variety and there are many places to study. The only thing that I wish was different was student involvement in intramural sports and organizations.
Midland College is a good place to start. It is affordable and has a lot of opportunities. However, it isn't somewhere to reach all of one's goals. Not only do you have to go elsewhere to complete a bachelors degree, but you also have to go elsewhere to get the variety and options that are just not offered at a community college. I honestly recommend Midland College to most students leaving high school because it cuts down on the debt that a college student will potentially have upon the completion of a degree and it keeps you close to home for a bit longer allowing a student to gather their bearings before going off to a bigger university.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Midland College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
If I could turn back time to being back in high school, I would tell myself to work more on my grades so my GPA would be higher to apply for more scholorships as well as, "Apply for More Scholorships!!" College costs a lot of money and it's all coming out of my parents pocket. In high school, all the school staff did everything for me, they took care of my transcripts, they took care of my schedule and classes, they even set up times for the counselor to talk with me. In college, it is very different! I don't get everything handed to me like before, I have to do my part and take care of all the business that belongs to me. Which helped me grow in a lot of very good ways, I've become responsible for all my education needs anad etc. I would tell myself work on being more independent and not to rely on everyone doing everything for me. I couldn't stress enough to myself to find scholorships for school tuition and to look into more colleges and plan out college days for myself while I have the time to.
A small town communite college with a good heart.
What I enjoy most about Midland College is the personal feel you encounter. My highschool was small and tight knit. No one was ever "just a number". I get the same vibe from MC. Midland College makes you feel like your goals are importanat to them and you are an individual and not just part of a headcount.
I wish I had known about all the buildings and faculty before considering it.
Different and relaxed
Without a doubt I believe Midland College is very well known for it's undergraduate nursing school or cosmetology. Though, I know first hand, it is a wonderful place to complete the basic core curriculum for any degree.
There are none
Nice small environment gets you more involved
I enjoy the options in the online courses. I work and go to school, this leaves very little flexibility in my schedule. An online course provides flexibility. Having the opportunity to take a few of my courses online makes my college experience a lot less stressful.
Everything is a "do it yourself" type of school. I wish the the people there would help out students more and give them more information on all the programs, education, and even what exactly they're suppose to be doing with the papers that the students are handed! We, the students, are confused and do not really know what exactly to do. We're first timers!
A person with an indecisive mind would fit very well into Midland College. They offer a very broad assortment of classes that could help anyone in any position. I have also seen many elder students who have chosen to go back to school to complete a degree. It'll fit almost anyone.
Well, since Midland College is a 2 year school, i wouldn't say that this school is directed toward any group of people particularly. I think this school is great for students just coming out of high school and are not sure what they want to do with their life just yet. Midland college can be a gateway school to many other 4 year colleges specific to your desires once you figure out what that is, after you have finished up your prerequisites.
