What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Congradulations on graduating! You will definitely miss high school. College is really hard, so pay attention in the classes you have left. Practice writing a lot and make sure you take note of everything you use on a daily basis. If you're going to live on campus, you need all the comforts of home in order to feel welcome at college. You may not get the best roommate in the world, but you can always switch rooms with someone. There is still going to be drama and people in your business, but don't give up. You will make friends, there will be a lot of peer pressure, and yes, the cafeteria food progressively gets worse. Don't worry. You can make it.

millsaps is a fairly small campus but has the feel of a bigger, state school. the small class sizes are ideal to student-teacher interaction and i believe creates a better learning environment. its location in jackson, ms is a great place for those seeking a variety of careers.

The most frustrating thing about my school is the quality of the freshman dormitories. Dormitories are assigned according to year status and GPA, therefore all assignments are fair; however, the women's and men's freshman dorm buildings are some of the older on campus, and the rooms are very strangely laid out. The bathrooms have extremely old doors, and occasionally the plumping will clog and the showers do not work. Also, the heating system is sporadic. Therefore...I say deal with it for a year, then transfer to the suites! The pain for your freshman year is worth it.

Since graduating with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1976, I have attended graduate school in Texas and I have taught high school sciences and worked in industry in several disciplines including oil and gas, environmental and now explosives (including pyrotechnics, propellants and high explosives). Thirteen years ago my partner and I started our own consulting firm and are now completing a state-of-the-art production facility to produce military products.
I have never regretted having attended Millsaps and I am always quite proud when I encounter folks who know of Millsaps.
Millsaps provided me with an education and training to undertake whatever I have encountered along the way. I regret only that I was not more mature in my actions, my mind-set and my faith in Jesus Christ while at Millsaps when I could have benefited so much more from the experiences there.

I wish I would've known how vital scholarships actually are. I thought I would be fine with just good grades from high school, but the costs of college keep adding up and pretty soon you'll realize that you should've spent the summer before college applying for a bunch of random scholarships. Even if you think you won't win, apply to the scholarship! You don't have anything to lose, but you have the possibility to gain something.

The cost of Millsaps definitely sets limitations on the desire for students coming from working middle class families to be able to maintain the cost of tuition in addition to their studies. A student enrolling at Millsaps must first---before making the final decision---weigh the stress of his/her financial situation according while also taking yearly, 3{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} tuition increases into account with financial aid rewards remaining the same. A forty thousand dollar liberal arts education is great and concentrating solely on school is easy when you have the funds.

Reach out! Go the extra mile! Make yourself get involved! And at the same time seek God's will for your life. Find a good Bible believing Bible teaching church in Jackson and get involved.

The personal relationship one has with professors at Millsaps is invaluable to students.
When I attended graduate school at a large state university in Texas, I experienced the same personal relationship with professors.
But it was somewhat alarming to see how many undergrads were stuffed into freshman and sophomore level classes at that same university.

the greek life, probably. we have a great greek community to where it is small enough to really get to know everyone in your own fraternity/sorority, but also other greek members. even though greek like has its exclusivity, we are still open to independents and are not solely associated with our fraternity/sorority.
