Mankato is, to me, a large city which I did not enjoy much being from a small town. It was nice having so many shops and businesses so close by so I would not have to travel far if I needed anything. For being a bigger school, the class sizes were surprisingly fairly small.

It is a good school, but it does have quite a party scene. The graduate programs are stellar, however. There are plenty of things to do around campus, and they always seem to have on campus events going on. The professors generally care about the students, and there is a welcoming atmosphere. I also love the CSU.

I think it's a great environment to be in, from the friendly students on campus to the supportive faculty in classrooms. The campus has so much to offer to its students, I'm not sure that we are ever likely to get bored due to the variety of different activities to participate in and the hangout places scattered across the community. I would genuinely recommend other students to check it out, as it's something great to be apart of.

I grew up in Mankato and honestly attending this college because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life. I ended up being very happy I went here. The academics for the major I decided on, Recreation Parks and Leisure Services, are fantastic. All the professors are understanding and kind. My main issue is with some of the living situations. I was fortunate enough to be able to afford the newer dorms which include air conditioning. However, others are not, and I don't think that is fair on multiple levels. I've seen it affect peoples' academics and believe that should not be the case. That is the only issue that comes to mind though, overall Mankato is an awesome place.

    I would tell myself to take online classes offered, as a PSEO student because there were no college credit classes offered at my highschool, it could have saved me alot of time and money upon arriving at college. I also would have told myself to look into nursing schools around the state to know what I needed for credits before attending Mankato.

    I love the Otto work out center. The ability to have computers mounted with exersize equipment is great.

    I wish I would have known about the social aspect of the college. A lot of people consider this college a party school and I might have been more leary about coming here than I was when I initially applied.

  6. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

    The worst thing about this school is the lack of commitment it seems like many of the undergradutes come here with. The students don't set the bar high enough for themselves so it makes the university as a whole look as though it is dropping the ball when in fact it is the students themselves doing the damage.

    This school is fun, exciting good learning environment to get a good education.

  8. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

    Some of the classes are too big. I prefer small classes. Some professors only grade exams and it's hard to bring your grade up if you don't do well on exams.

  9. Describe your favorite campus traditions.

    MSU- Mankato is best known for its Division 1 Hockey team which has done very well in past years along with the relatively closeness of all academic building to one another. Many of the off campus houses are only a short walk to campus and all classes are near each other too where students don't need to drive from class to class.

    someone who is out going and likes to be involved in many different activities. also someone who want a smaller campus but that is still alot of fun.

    Mankato is a great school but if you are the type of person who doesn't want to try at anything then you are going to flunk out and you should not attend this school. The classes are difficult, so you must be willing to put forth an effort.

    I like where I go to school because the campus is very diverse. The student population is represented by a wide variey of races and ethnicities. I believe the facutly at Minnesota State Univeristy are a lot more helpful than they are at other universities I have visited. The professors want to see their students succeed and will go out of their way to help their students.

    Minnesota State University, Mankato has a great environment both for education and meeting new people. It is a friendly school with many students but a small town atmosphere. The people are great and the campus has many opportunities for entertainment and education.

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA. Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
