Aeriana - 04/17/2020

Minnesota State University Moorhead is a very welcoming community. MSUM has a good variety of majors and minors for you to choose from. If you are looking for small class sizes and want your professors to know you by name and not just a number this is a great college. The dining center, Kise, is not the best due to having the same thing almost everyday. However, there are other dining options on campus that are delicious and you can use your dragon dollars and not have to spend your own money like you would have to off campus. The dorm life on campus is alright. The first week you are always doing stuff with your floor and RA, but after that you do not really have events planned. In most dorms you share a bathroom with your floor mates, but the staff at MSUM keep the restrooms very clean. This campus has many opportunities for extracurricular activities and clubs which is super nice to get you connected with people and allow you to enjoy hobbies of yours. Overall, I have enjoyed being on this campus and it now feels like a small nit family to me and it has helped me becoming the person I am today.

Erin - 01/09/2020

Overall, it is a really good college with tons of opportunities! There are plenty of activities and events to go to on campus. The classes are also on the smaller side so there are more opportunities for one on one with the professors. The professors are all really nice and understanding as well.

Alyssa - 09/14/2019

I love MSUM because of the community I have found here. It is a smaller campus, so it’s easy to run into people you know and make friends. My classes are small enough where the professors have always learned my name and I can get to know everyone as well. There are many organizations to join on campus and which really make it feel like home.

Flurian - 09/13/2019

I honestly love MSUM! Just everything about it is great. MSUM would be a great college to attend! The professors are truly nice and care for your success. The students are very willing to help you with anything you need. All you need to do is ask someone for help, and they will be willing to do so.

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Minnesota State University Moorhead?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Minnesota State University Moorhead is 59%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

There are a few things that I would say to my highschool self. First of all, take advantage of the dual-credit opportunities available at your local community college. Get some of the general requirements out of the way during your Junior and Senior years of highschool so that you will have more opportunities to get involved on campus when you start college. It saves time, energy, and money. Secondly, make a list of what is most important to you in a university. Some ideas might include: location and distance from home, size of campus and how spread apart it is, academic programs, student organizations, etc. Next, take as many campus tours as you can. Travel to each school you are thinking about applying to. This may not seem very important, but it is! You just can't get what you need in order to choose without seeing it for yourself. Once you start college, get involved!!!! Participate in dorm activities. Check out student organizations and academic clubs. This is where you will meet people who share similar interests and beliefs. This has seriously made the most important contribution to my university experience.

  4. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

I am not sure there is really a worst thing about MSUM. For me I dislike taking classes on-line but it is a nice way to take classes. I guess I really dislike classes that start before 9 am. I would rather take classe from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  5. What's unique about your campus?

The best thing about my school is that it is just the right ratio for me: It is in a large community so that i can explore around me, but it is also small enough for it to be a really friendly school. The size is perfect because there are small class sizes which make it is easier to learn, and the campus is always filled with familiar faces. All the people here are so great!

I tell them how much fun I have there. I still have friends that are still in high school and even convinced one to go to MSUM. I tell them about the fun activities there are to do here and how they can be apart of it. I think I have gotten all of them to fill out an application there. I also brag about the great communication between student and professors.

  10. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

The campus is small enough to walk everywhere on campus, but large enough to feel like a college. It is also much more affordable compared to the other schools I had planned on attending when I was considering my options. This school has turned out to exceed my expectations more than I thought it would. It's much more social, and I also don't feel like I am just a number to the school.

  11. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Hygiene jobs are impossible to find in town. Husband refuses to move away from his family. Have to find patients. This isn't something we'd do in a real practice. Teachers are stuck up and pretentious. Most of the female falculty and staff are a bunch of bitches. No school wide policy exists for funeral leave, sick leave, birth leave, or grading. Not all on same page for the basic stuff. But they've a school wide policy on drugs, alcohol, theft, and cheating! Go figure. All need to get off high horse and pull heads out of ass.
