Missouri State University is near the center of the nation and has a lot of regional diversity. There are a lot of students from around the United States and the world that come to study here because of the lower tuition and student fees. The education that is taught here meets surpasses all the other colleges and universities in the area. It is top of the line and all the professors are very informed and helpful and make a point to take time to help you if needed. The professors make sure that the students not only learn the material being taught but also learn to take a situation apart, analyze it and solve any problems that might arise, thus preparing the student for success in future working environments.
Our competitive sports programs have also become nationally recognized forces that are ready to meet any competition. They teach corporation and competiveness. Both of which are necessary to rise to the top of any job after college.
Lastly, this is a growing community with job opportunities that can help the students support themselves. By attending MSU, a student can get a great education that will prepare them for their future at any level.
Overall, I like it here. It has all the perks of a large university (lots of different opportunities, classes, and ways to get involved), but the campus is very compact, and not spread out all over town like some large schools (like MU).
Missouri State is at the heart of a great community. Due to its public affairs mission, the university encourages community engagement and provides great opportunities to get involved with organizations outside of the university.
The campus itself has beautiful landscaping and beautiful fountains. Behind the student union is a perfect place to sit below a tree and study in peace on a quiet Sunday afternoon.
MSU is a medium-large sized school, but it has all the benefits of a small school. The classes are a manageable size, and most of the teachers are willing to get to know you. The culture of the campus and the town is not ideal. Springfield has a lot of businesses and fun things to do, but it lacks cultural diversity. It is very prejudiced and behind on current music, trends, etc.
