The campus has nice, well-kept facilities and also has a convenient, small size. They also offer many resources for the students who live on and off campus. Overall, the professors, advisors, and administration have shown great care for the general student body and continually work to provide an excellent education.

It is not technically a Community College, but it has that feel. There was a 35 year old pregnant woman living in the dorms, a 60 year-old non-degree seeking foreign exchange man living in the dorms as well.... Billings is not a college town, it is a town for the elderly and young families, not a typical college experience. Great for nontraditional students, and the tuition is very low, comparatively. The professor are really nice and helpful. I would not recommend this school to someone wanting a "College experience".

MSUB is a decent college to go to. I have liked mostly all of my professors and they are very knowledgeable about their subjects. I do have to say, even though I haven't used it, MSUB have wonderful student services and friendly staff to help you with whatever you may need. The atmosphere is usually loud and busy between classes but is quite during classes. Tuition is a great price as well.

Montana State University Billings has a beautiful, yet charming campus that is always kept up nicely. The classes that I have attended are all of a manageable size that allowed personable relationships with both the professors and other students. I have created meaningful relationships with many of the faculty members who are always extremely polite and willing to help. It's not a big campus which is sometimes nice because everyone knows everyone else. If you are looking for a fun, welcoming, and all together academically rewarding community, MSUB is the place for you. I have had a great time here and hope to continue to have rewarding experiences.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would go back and tell myself that softball isn't going to be life. Pick a school that has stellar academic opportunities. Also, I would tell myself not to settle with the first university that contacted me. I would tell myself to be patient and know that God will bring to the table where you are supposed to be and what will be best for you. Also, explore your options, there are so many universities out there with sport programs, but not all of them exceed in academics. Academics are what is important because that is what will shape the rest of your life. Softball would be only a benefit. The last thing I would tell myself to be sure to never change from the person you are, even though events and circumstances in life mold you into who you are going to be in the future, never lose your spirit to live and love the way you do. You cannot control what happens in your life, you can only control the way you handle it.

Montana State Univeristy Billings specializes in many great programs such as nursing, education, pyschology and history, but as a wildlife biology major what truly stands out to me is the diversity of outdoor places readily availible. Smack in the middle of the Yellowstone River Valley, in just an hour you can find yourself hiking the Beartooth Mountains, fishing one of the great reservoirs , wandering about the mystical Pryor Mountains or exploring the nearby praires and sandstone bluffs. Easy access to these places opens up an endless amount of oppurtunities to perform research and delve into Montanas complex ecosystems.

My school is not huge or prestigious, but it is known for making a difference in our local community nonetheless. Programs whose goals are to get students involved in the Billings community have flourished during my time here, and every student is encouraged to do their part to make a positive change. We have students from all over the world attending school here, so students have the ability to spread the attitude of helpfulness and their desire to make a positive change not only across the state, but across the world. My school has a healthy environment that encourages growth.

  10. What's unique about your campus?

I consider the friendly professors and welcoming college community to be the best thing about MSUB. My first semester of college was in North Dakota at the University of Mary. It was an excellent academic school but greatly lacked in the community events that MSUB has. One of the best decisions I have made in my 19 years was to transfer colleges. Although it was a hassle, transferring was well worth it.
