Every college makes their coursework much greater than high school even MSU. I believe going there for a program other than teaching, business, biology or the arts is a waste of your time. All the other programs have no national recognition whatsoever and the education in them is nothing new or challenging at all from high school but of course any college that doesn’t make the forbes list will be the same. There is a diversity in every race at the school.

I am currently a freshman at Montclair State University and I do love the school. I feel as though it is very diverse and my fellow classmates/ peers and staff is very friendly. I think this is a perfect place to perfect my craft and further my education. There are a lot of activities and clubs here to join also to help expand your social circle. I am looking forward to the next few years here at MSU!!!!!

What is your overall opinion of this school?

It's a 2 year, 4 year school. Some professors are ego maniacs, and you'll often hear "What you learn in my classroom you won't learn anywhere else" followed by an hour and a half of reading off Pearson or McGraw hill slides. Other professors are really passionate and want the students to do well. Housing on campus is like section 8 that you pay $1,000 a month for. Meanwhile renting a room of similar size in Bloomfield or the town of montclair is only $600 a month. It's usually a ghost town on weekends, because there's a huge amount of commuting students. Go here if you want to learn and have a decent degree, don't go here if you want a social life.

I like it. They are constantly renovating to make the buildings updated and prettier. Have to park far from campus and take the shuttle often which is annoying, but I guess that's just how it is when you are a big commuter school. But overall, a pretty nice school.

Montclair is the best of both of worlds ( Hannah Montana reference intended). You can see NYC but you can not smell it, and you are not far from a great hike either. However, Montclair is mountainous and windy. The weather and food are not always the best but housing in The Heights and and the teachers are amazing.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I am currently in my first year as a freshman at Montclair State University. My experience here has been positive so far. There are so many opportunities here where you can be involved and participate in. I can easily make friends in my classes and in events that take place at MSU. The environment here is very positive, which makes me want to come more often since I am a commuter.

Montclair is a school that has a lot to it. There is a lot of inclusion and the campus vibe is really a great thing to be a part of. The facilities are also amazing and the building are beautiful. I find that there is always something going on and the school provides many ways to become aware of those events and opportunities. The school is fantastic and I really do enjoy going to school at MSU. The only thing that could make it better is if it wasn't so cold in the winter because of the elevation.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

To start off, I would like to begin with stating that adjusting to college was very difficult in the first half of the semester; however, once I have started to relax - I began to enjoy the new world that I have entered. The campus is beautiful and not that large to cause someone to feel overwhelmed, and the quad that we have is a nice place to hang out or do homework when it is warm outside. Additionally, since there are thousands of people attending this school, it really is not that hard to meet people; also, because majority of the class sizes are no more than 50 students, it is easier to make friends. Plus, one has many opportunities to talk to their professor because classes are smaller, and professors are always willing to help their students through email or their office hours. The campus is also pretty close to NY city, in which students can take the train right next to campus to explore NY or have a trip there (good for internships as well). Though, it seems that school spirit is pretty dull - especially when attending a few sports games and such. People are not really paying much attention to the games, but instead are just on their phones. Also, sports games are very similar to that of high school sports games; for example, we do not have huge stadiums or courts, and timings of these games are exactly the same. Extracurricular activities (or events), are also not popular, so students will not attend these things. Mind you, this may be the case for 85% of the school's population happens to be commuters. Another huge con about MSU is trying to connect with financial aid; they never seem to answer the phone or they take forever to answer your call.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

montclair state is a very good school, they try very hard to keep us engaged and interactive with one another to build a very warm and cozy campus. They should keep up the good work! i sometimes wish that there was more to do on campus so maybe that would be one aspect that they could brush up on a bit.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

It is a great school. The professors are very helpful and make it a priority to help you succeed. I am in the business school and could not be happier with my choice. A minimum of a 3.0 is required to transfer to the school of business. I love the school.
