What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Go to all the school's you are looking at and make sure they fit right to you. If you know someone who attends the college, try and arrange an overnight visit so you can see the dorm rooms up close. Get involved early, whether through the greek community, SGA, church groups or major-related clubs, getting involved is important to making the most out of your college experience.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

No matter how much they tell you there?s no way you will ever be prepared. For every school you?re considering you should visit for an entire weekend. The things they never tell you about happen on the weekend. I?m not talking about the parties but the student activities, the studying. On the weekend you see the true living at school. If you feel you could find yourself living there for nine months, check into what degrees the school has to offer. Then consider what your interests are. Its true what ever your current interests are will have an impact on what you decide to do with your life. There?s simple searches you can do to see how people rate the school. So you can see how your opinion compares to others. Just because the school has amazing academic standing doesn?t make it a good school. You should also check it stats. Such as how many graduate within 4 years. How many drop out each year. The number of students that receive x% amount of aid from the school. It sounds like a lot but before you pick a school make sure you do your research.

What kind of person should attend this school?

You have to be ablt to adapt to the country lifesyle very easy. You should have an idea of what you want before you com. if not you will feel like you are running in constant circle. which gets you no where. you shoudl also be ready for the peer pressure. what ever you had in high school times it by 10 at least. You should get your self ready for tons of homework. each professor gives homework as if they are the only professor that will give you homeowork.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

The freedomis amazing. From what classes to take to the people you hang with. there are wide choices of what to do off campus o you are not bound to school 24/7. If you really want to learn something then this is a place you could consider. Overall it is not a bad school. But is is a culture shock for many which I enjoy. It is nothing like home in the city. So if you want something new this could be it.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Advice I would give to students and parents about finding the right college is to first find out what kind of college you're interested in. Take into consideration teacher to student ratios, the amount of studying needed for each class, the availability of the professors, and possibly the traveling distance. The advice I'd give to students about how to make the most out of their college experiences, is to go to the university's programs and meet new people. Sign up for a sorority or fraternity, join a club or organization on campus, become active in your campus' activities. Students should be theirselves and remember to not become too wrapped up on the social part of college and forget about their coursework. The last advice I would have for future students is to know what kind of student you are and to always allow time for studying and doing homework!

What kind of person should attend this school?

The type of person who should attend this school is the type of person who is willing to work towards a degree to their career. Anyone who enjoys small classrooms, one-on-one help with the professors, and a close group of friends. This school is perfect for students who are outgoing, determined, and responsible.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

The thing I brag most about my school is the natural beauty that the school has to offer. Morehead State has a beautiful campus! The natural beauty is amazing here! A student can walk to Eagle Lake and spend hours there without realizing it. The nature that surrounds this campus is amazing and a must see for anyone.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Parents, dont have so much control over your kids. Have trust that when they are away at college they will make the right decisions. Let them have freedom to express themselves.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

Honestly, I have not come across something that has really frustrated me.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Find a school that you feel comfortable in on the college visit. Choose a school where you're in the same kind of environment as when you are home, and if you get homesick, stay close to home. Also, unless you're completely committed, don't try a long distance relationship out of high school!

What kind of person should attend this school?

If you like to make your own fun, make your own friends, or join a fraternity/sorority, this is the school for you.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would tell them both to research the college, but mostly get input from the students. Every school will say they are the best at what they do so just talk to students and get the reality about the school.

What's unique about your campus?

The best thing about my school would be the fact that it is very career specific. Where I am in graduate school everything I work with and towards is all about the career I have chosen to be established in. I also love the fact that the faculty members are EXTREMELY nice and helpful with our studies. If I had to do it again I would come to this school to finish my schooling.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The cost of out of state graduate school tuition. I transferred from morehead to a school in Tn. for my graduate program. It is costing me close to 30,000 dollars a year (3 year program) to earn the doctorate degree I have set myself towards. The time it takes to understand all the information we are getting is overwhelming as well as the financial aspect is the most frustrating part of my school.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Personally, I think that finding the "right" college is all about where you came from and how you grew up. I chose Morehead State University because I came from a smaller town in Kentucky and kind of wanted to stay within the small community type of college. I like to think of it as, "A place where you can know everyone and everyone knows you, but big enough to where they're not always in your business." Some people feel different about going to a small school coming from a small town, but that also has to do with their personality. Making the most out of college and having the overall best college experience is all about time management and being able to get out and meet people. I believe that the more people you meet, the more activities you will get involved in, which leads to having many memories. Myself, I joined a fraternity and I have made some of my best friends. They will be the guys that are in my wedding and the guys that carry me to my grave. Basically, getting involved around campus no matter what the activity is, is the best thing to do!

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

It's a small town atmosphere which is great because building friendships is much easier, class sizes are very small relative to other campuses I've heard about. Being outdoors is definitely an option here with multiple lakes in the area and fabulous lookouts and trails for biking, etc. The campus is very closely knit and therefore anywhere on campus is a reasonable walk away! Although we are a more rural area we are in no way behind on the technology side of things with the new equipment such as smart boards and a state of the art space center!

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Visit the campus and talk to people that you know who go to the possible universities of your choice.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

How friendly people are and the academic side of things. Scholarships aren't too relatively hard to attain with a great education in return through great professors and small classes.

Describe the students at your school.

They are mainly conservative but do listen when you speak even if they disagree. Everyone is very respectful and nice especially to new students. I've never seen anyone make fun of anyone else directly.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Parents: Look for what you child wants. Not for what you want. Student: Chill out, relax, go where you think is best and what YOU want. You will be living here, not your parents.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Too conservative for my homosexual, liberal taste.
