Morgan State University is a HBCU that was first established in 1867 on Sharp Street as Centenary Biblical Institute . Its mission statement was to educate black men who had just come out of slavery how to be community leaders with moral and religious values especially since they weren't allowed to attend school with their counter-race. The Centenary Biblical Institute provided not only a spiritual nature to these men, but also a community of brotherhood. Years Later, the curriculum changed and it started offering non-biblical courses due to the fact that the job industry was getting competative and the leaders at the time felt the need for educating students in other fields. The name was then changed to Morgan College in honor of the benefactor. Years later, the first female was accepted. Her first name was Suze I can't remember har last name at the moment. That was just to give you a brief history of Morgan. Today, Morgan is a place of equal opportunity to all regardless of race, gender, religion, ethnic and culture. It is a school with rich history and sophistication. I am proud to be a Morganite because the courses offrered here are not offered at other colleges and universities. Courses such as African Diaspora, Humanities and even languages such as Yuroba and Swahili. I honestly don't know of any other school that offers them and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn more about my history and culture as an African ( Cameroonian to be specific). Thank God for Morgan!! Keep the History alive!!

It's a Historically Black University in Baltimore, Maryland. It's about 2 hours tops outside of DC, and fifteen minutes from the Baltimore Harbor. Our school is always in the works of new constructions and renovations, so you'll probably see cranes and fork lifts busying themselves throughout the campus at any given time. Like the name indicates, a large population of the school is black, but we do promote diversity. For the rest, come check it out yourself! ;)
