Mount Holyoke College Top Questions

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

Elizabeth

This school is open and accepting of students of all backgrounds. LGBTQIA students also have a safe environment to be themselves.

Catherine

I start by talking about my friends, who come from all over the world and leap enthusiastically to talk about anything from quantum mechanics to the oppression of sexual and gender minorities. Then I talk about my professors, who dress up for Halloween, bring candy to every exam, have students over for dinner and offer a room to students in need. Then, I talk about John, the war veteran who works at one of the dining halls, greets me with a smile, knows me name, and sings to me when I walk in. Finally, I talk about the beautiful campus.

Lara

It's like a sleepover every night! I feel a great sense of community and nurturing at Mount Holyoke. I've met a lot of great people and I encourage people to look past the "all women" label.

Isa

The aspect I cherish most about my school is the incredible sense of community. Everyone here, the faculty, staff and students tend to be very friendly, engaging and supportive. It's very diverse; you are always surrounded by different perspectives. Also, even though we all tend to be academically dedicated and driven with many big dreams for our future, it's not a cut-throat competitive school. Mount Holyoke offers the perfect, safe, nurturing environment to really explore the different options of your future and develop yourself into a strong, dynamic, woman who can make the world a better place.

Shelley

I tell them that it is one of the seven sisters, the female equivalent to the once all-male ivy league. I also tell them that it has a gorgeous campus and the food and housing is spectacular (I'm not lying).

The campus is amazing. It is by far one of the most spiritually rich campuses...Around you are beautiful trees, 2 lakes, and ducks!

Kelsey

The community is so wonderful, it feels like home here. I can share a joke with a girl I've never spoken to before, and we'll laugh together as though we were fast friends. Also, the diversity. I wish that I could live in a world with as much diversity, energy, and intelligence as Mount Holyoke. People tend to be focused, and tend to actually engage and want to learn in their classes. Also, the campus is very pretty, and the professors are very nice (and awesome!)

Angela

It has a beautiful campus, a great learning environment and extraordinary academic facilities.

Genevieve

It's part of the seven sisters colleges and the five-college system

Miriam

Our campus is gorgeous and good for walking. Our dorms are very clean and pleasant to live in. Because of our large international student population food is very diverse and very good for college food. There are many dining halls on campus from which to choose. I have friends from all over the country and the world that speak many languages. There are four other colleges in the area where I can take classes, participate in extracurriculars, socialize, or do research. There are also two "college towns" in which to do my shopping, entertainment, eating, socializing, volunteering, etc.
