MVNU is a beautiful campus full of wonderful faculty and students. Its community-orientated atmosphere welcomes and involves everyone, and provides plenty of opportunities for new-coming students to get plugged in. Small professor-to-student ratios enable faculty to invest in students and guide them on an individual basis.
MVNU is a very special place, and not your "typical" college atmosphere. One of the best things about MVNU is there is a 0 tolerance for alcohol, drugs, and sexual activity, making the campus an extremely safe and comfortable place. MVNU strongly upholds students' rights, like Title IX which has to do with sexual assault, a topic that is often pushed aside at other colleges. This college cares strongly for the well being and success of its students which not only builds the students' confidence, but transforms them into mature, independent, and God-loving adults. Mount Vernon Nazarene University is a christian University, which means there are certain rules and regulations placed on the campus. While others may see this as constricting and in some ways annoying, I find them to be beneficial in the fact that it teaches students discipline and reliability which is a very important adult skill to obtain at such a young age. There are too many young adults living at colleges where they waste their time on sex, drugs, and alcohol which not only decreases their life span, but takes away the possibility of becoming well educated and earning good grades. MVNU is a university that genuinely shares the love of Christ to its students through kindness, discipline, acceptance, and encouragement. I couldn't think of a safer, more suitable college for myself as a Christ follower.
Mount Vernon Nazarene University is a school unlike any other. From the first visit, one will feel as if this is a place where they belong. The school offers a multitude of sports in the form of club and official teams. The school not only gives attention to athletics, but also to arts programs by offering programs for performing and visual arts. Although Mount Vernon does not have greek life, there is always something fun to do on campus from sporting events to campus run events. The housing is high quality with spacious dorms and apartments and minimal issues. The Cafeteria offers a wide variety of food and the meal plan is unlimited so a student will never go hungry. The professors are approachable and always willing to talk with the students. The school is academic focused, but the Christ focused atmosphere makes Mount Vernon a place to grow with others in a relationship with the Lord as well as academically. MVNU is more than just a college; it is a portal for young adults to not only work towards their career and academic goals, but also for them to grow closer to Jesus Christ.
I think it is a beautiful campus full of opportunity. Thud professors work with you and are easy to get ahold of, the dorms are reasonably sized, the campus food is amazing and there is plenty going on to keep you busy. You aren't very far from Columbus so if you run out of things to do you can always take a little trip. The school has specific courses to help you focus on and achieve your major.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Mount Vernon Nazarene University is 74%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
Knowing what I know now, I would have told myself to take more challenging courses throughout high school instead of taking it easy. As a junior in college I find that there are some classes I struggle with that I really should not be struggling with because I should have learned it in high school. As far as making the transition from high school to college I would say that I would tell myself to expect the best of things rather than the worst of things. When you worry about how things can go wrong you don't focus on how they can go right, or how to make them go right. My experience with a roommate my freshman year turned out bad, but I feel it was really because I let myself go into the situation thinking the worst of things. If I had just told myself that everything would turn out for the best, I would have had a better first semester. I would also tell myself not to be afraid to break out of a shell, to make friends and to talk to people more than I actually did.
I love the social and spiritual aspects about my school. The chapel services grow and challenge you, and the social events help you meet new people. I have to say the end of the year block party is the biggest social event on campus and the most fun one.
The idea that the people aren't always fair when it comes to appearences.
The unique thing about MVNU is that, while there is alcohol use (rarely), most of the students obstain from drug or alcohol use.
The pretty campus setting and the academics and the Christian environment
MVNU is very conservative and most of the time the students get a long with each other well.
A person who is lost in life or doesnt know what to do with the future.
Kids who do not want a to be in a Christian enironment
I wish I had known that a lot of people go home on weekends. It is sometimes hard to find people to hang out with on weekends because I cannot go home on weekends. This year it is a little easier because the apartment I live in has other girls that live out of state, so they do not go home on weekends either.
Our school is best known for our music and education department. We are also known for a great atmosphere for spiritual and academic growth. The professors are amazing and are always willing to meet with you outside of class when you need to talk. There are also lots of on campus activites and it has a great social atmosphere.
The most frustrating thing about my school is that the food in the cafeteria is not always the most delicious. We have a very wide selection, but since it is prepared in large quantities, the flavour is not the best. Often I opt for a salad or sandwich. Otherwise, I love my school!
My classmates are very conservative and yet friendly and open to others.
