As a non-traditional student there were things that I choose MSJC. First, the onsite child development center. I have two children that are under the age of six. Being able to be near my children was very important to me considering all the time I am going to sacrifice for my education. Secondly, I chose MSJC because of the honors program. This is one way I am able to distinguish myself from my peers and, in the future, from the other applicants that I will be compared to when I apply for transfer to a 4-year institution.
The thing that is unique about Mount San Jacinto College compared to other schools is the fact that this school actually works with you. Whenever I want to get some things organized as far as my units and my transferring goes, they are there to assist in any way. I've been to other schools where the staff must have had bays. They were always frustrated, rude, and not willing to willingly help. At the end, it all leads up to frustration on both ends of the stick?student vs. staff.
